hmmmm... :blah: SunwayFoto?

my bad...

looked at it... seems like a bad implementation of the L plate.

you need to use an Allen key to unscrew the L plate?

No thank you... the RRS one looks much better.

Ir depends on what u typically shoot. I am more into landscape so it doesnt matter for me.. I wil just leave it attached to the body same aa my Kirk L-plate on my 5d..occasionally out for street photo still ok oso..

With the price more than half of RRS, cant expect for the same copy of it ;)

sure I've used both the L plates (on my Nikon D800) and RRS one is far inferior both in design, machining and finishing, but is also priced accordingly.

That said, RRS plates will also requires an allen key to screw on/off the L-plate so for that they are functionally the same, just that RRS will always finished up better.

would I have paid twice the amount for a RRS? Definitely so, in a heartbeat!

Was researching on this over lunch and there's 1 boon and 1 bane for this design.

Firstly, there's no marking on the slider to indicate the lens centre. This is not a big issue, but it's there on the rrs version.

2nd,the design does not allow for use of a wired remote (if anyone has 1 at all) in the portrait position. It maybe possible to offset the camera slightly so that the door for the remote can be opened. Need to test it out though.

The only boon is the additional screw thread st the bottom. It allows me to mount my a7 to my panosaurus (no money for the expensive setups from sunway or rrs).

The rrs design considered the wired remote during the design stage, and it sure looks better than the sunway version. But at half the price, the sunwayfoto version has its plus point as well...

Sort of liaise with Mr Yang of SunwayLED/Sunwayman/SunwayFoto a while back discussing flashlights, I knew the company's background is in industrial machining. That said, could SWF have made an L-plate to match or better the quality of RRS? I shouldn't think there's much problem for their team as they are pretty up there in terms of machining and anodising. But then I get a feeling that they are making their products to meet a certain price point for their existing customers base (they have a huge domestic client base) so while I would say their products are always well made and represents a good value for money, there'll definitely be certain compromises which is expected.

Being the first out in the market with the L-plate for A7/R a week or so after their launch, I wouldn't bet against them going back and make an improved version at a later date...just guessing!

RRS also has a custom L plate for the a7. But at double to triple the price. :(

Your point 2 I guess is correct.. but so far there is no good wired remote for A7/A7R in the market yet. I have to use Sony infra red remote to do remote trigger.

Same. My intervalometer previously bought for my a77 is now useless. This is really inconvenient as the infrared trigger is not as reliable as a wired trigger.

The rrs design may not be the best, but at least it caters for the plug for those who bought the Sony remote

Actually there is a wired remote but not sold in SG. Heard Japan stores are selling. Who knows the model number?

Are you referring to the RMVPR1? It's 65usd for a simple trigger. :(

Simple? Wired trigger via micro usb type ya? It can enable bulb mode shooting... seems quite good... too bad SG not selling it

Want to know the camera setting you guys use adobeRGB or sRGB for shooting JPEG ?

Can't get RMVPR1 in SG? =( Was planning to get one, actually. Tho expensive, from what I've read so far, that remote can also be used for other Sony cams, just change the plug. So not too bad, i guess.

I'm currently using an Android app called "DSLR remote" to trigger the A7 using IR. Can do timed bulb and time lapse. And it's free!

sRGB! Dun have a workflow (or hardware) that can take advantage of the adobeRGB, and dun have a need oso.

i wonder if the Minolta 24-105mm f3.5-4.5 can perform well, with the LA-EA4 of course. pretty cheap at ebay for around us$300 with shipping. could be a good alternative while waiting for the zeiss 24-70 f4, or if budget does not allow. has anyone tried it yet? if so please provide some feedback.
