just my thought, to shoot with 19mm in FF mode. and manually crop out the vignetting during PS. may be the effective range after the cropped, will be around 22mm. Would that work ?

I'm doing it. It works fine. Remove d rear baffle on d lens will increase d image circle hitting d sensor so u do not need to crop more than needed in PP

if one has to shoot RAW (and not using the digital zoom method), I believe there will still be vignetting. Right ?
Any rough idea after the crop to cut out the vignetting corner, roughly, what is the effective range. should be 20-22mm ?

You need to crop quite a bit actually.... Not too sure what's the leftover resolution though. I can try out on my raw files tonight though

resolution will be be lower after the crop that is acceptable. I wonder what is the set effective range. if it is around 22mm, i believe it will be a good investment on sigma 19mm as wide angle, due to compactness, nex mount, f2.8, AF, sharp corner to corner. not to mention it is only around SGD250

I bought the 19mm too... when better options available it will be paired with my nex7 permanently

If need to crop down to 21mm-22mm, why not just get a legacy 20-21mm that works without the hassle?
That's my line of thought for now anyway. ....

of course the 19mm is smaller, lighter (but plastic), and Af.

Coz its difficult to find a SLR legacy lens to match sigma 19 edge to edge on sharpness.

Do you have link to samples?
Want to see if its worth the hassle.

A legacy 20mm can also be cropped to 21-22mm to get better edge to edge, while leaving the option not to and be wider.
Just some thoughts.

TIA

What are you going to do with the lens when there are better options? Though better options will not be as cheap, for sure. But it is still $250 down the drain then....

Got mine from bns..so its cheaper. Just waiting the 2470za.. then the 19mm will be fitted to the nex7

Some samples: Sigma 19, removed rear baffle. Digital zoom to 1.2x so no cropping is needed but only can use Xtra Fine and smaller file format. Raw is not possible in this setup. Cheers.
