Hi Guys, got a question.
When using APS-C emount lenses on A7/A7r.
Will we be getting the full resolution if its not in crop mode?
I know there will be vignetting if not in crop mode.

Thanks

By default, the camera will switch to APS-C mode is an APS-C lens is mounted. You can turn the auto switch off. This way, the camera will remain FF whichever lens is mounted. You will get the full picture size.

Hi guys, how do u all register the A7 kit warranty?
I searched for both ILCE-7 and ILCE-7K on the Sony SG eWarranty page and keyed in the 7-digit serial number on the body.
However I get an 'Invalid Serial Number'
Tried the kit lens serial number doesn't work too.. thanks!
U can send email to them to get them help u register.

The kit lens warranty is tied to the body if I am not wrong. So registering the body will do if you select the a7 kit

I selected both ILCE-7 and ILCE-7K with the body serial number but it errors out saying serial number invalid.
Its the 7-digit number at the bottom of the body correct?

Ok so for example if on an A7, if the auto switch is off i will be getting it in FF 24.3 Mega Pixel?

Maybe you bought a gray set with no Singapore warranty?

Time Lapse apps avaliable now for A7/R .

I compared the FE 35mm to my CV 35mm... Not impressed. The FE is surprisingly not as sharp as the CV. Colours look washed out.

The FE 55mm. Ah... That's a different story. Wide open, the sharpness is excellent.

I find the sharpness comparable to CV at F2.8.

A chap done his own comparison between the two lens, no clear winners , each has its strengths and weaknesses.

Some forum comments in Dpreview on the two lenses too.

But the FE 55mm clearly is a durian cutter lol

need advice on some technical matters.

this is a 21mm leica pre-asph on A7R, which produce not just colour cast, but also a weird spherical greyish tone on the top.

this is the same 21mm on M9, which can produce a clean image for comparison.

would like to know what is the likely source of the greyish tone on the top of the image? I tried two different Nex adaptors (kipon & hawk helicoid v2.5) and both produce the same grey tone. any advice is appreciated

It seems like the corner fringing issue to me. One way to find out if there is a sensor issue or just the lens. Turn off your lens profile on your M9 and shoot , you should be able to see some color casts as well without the correction in M9. If none, switch another lens on your A7r to test. If the grayish area is not present, it could be just the corners issue of the wide angle lens on the A7R

Leica lenses are optimized for the M cameras. There is software correction also, based on the len's 6-bit coding.
