Sony only distribute a few pieces to each stores and it comes and goes. Sometimes stocks comes once per week, sometime longer depending on their stocks status.
Go to a regular shop and make reservations. If you have bought the camera body from that shop, they may try to offer you the initial package price of less than $1k for the 35FE.
If you walk in to shops that they are not familiar with you, they will probably tell you that the lens is reserved for new buyers of A7/R. if not they have no lenses to use and wont buy the body from them.
Same tactics like Leica. In the past, they will only sell their Summilux lenses such as 35mm FLE and 50lux to buyers who buy with M9 or M9P.

Just came back from Hong Kong today. Was shopping around the few camera stores and was surprised that the Sony FE55mm f1.8 was quite easily available in all the stores here. Price is about S$1,280. So I guess Sg price will be around $1,350. Not very satisfied with quality and so didn't buy it there. Must do another round here before deciding again.

I think the built quality of my 55FE is ok leh. Pictures are very nice too. Just that it is Made in Thailand, and not like 35FE that is Made in Japan.

Here the market big, so they stock up a lot.

I know I am being anal. But after using A7 for the 2nd time, I do feel the camera is too small! 
I mean I have to remove my eyes from the EVF to see which button my thumb is on.
So for A8, please make it 1 inch bigger all around. And also embossed the buttons with braille letters for eye free operation.

I actually use this lens quite often on my A7 and prior to that, my NEX-7.
Yes it becomes front heavy but it's quite manageable once you learn to hold the camera by the lens and not the body.
In addition, I use a Blackrapid strap attached to the adaptor to haul it around.
Image quality from this lens is very good and I love the constant f2.8.

Hi Guys, got a question.
When using APS-C emount lenses on A7/A7r.
Will we be getting the full resolution if its not in crop mode?
I know there will be vignetting if not in crop mode.

Don't think any shop will sell u pwp price. It's next cheaper buy is thru Bns
