If it is really good, maybe sell my Nikon DSLR and go light, while keeping my RX1R for street shots.

More keen on the RX10 though, with the superb zoom lens.... Very scared of dusty sensor, and this one may really replace my Nikon setup!

i actually thought olympus would be sharing the SSWF antidust & IBIS with Sony, perhaps later generations.

I am keen to get the "base" A7 but like when I got my NEX 5N some time back, there were so few e mount lens to choose from and I eventually switched camp.

Now there will be precious few FE mount lens and out of the first 5 annouced lens only 1 is affordable. I may have to get the EA4 adaptor and a (used) SAL 16-80/3.5-4.5 as a more economical solution.

Seemed its pretty tough to implement the IBIS on a bigger sensor like Full Frame unlike easily on M4/3s

If I can put my Nikon AI and AIS lenses on it I will be over the moon.. surely an adapter is forthcoming, from anywhere.....

He already self poisoned... wait and see... A7R in his hands in Dec... LOL

lol. i think most likely u r the first few to own the camera.

Look like Sony got a winner.

The cost of switching is also manageable.

I am not sure how u arrived at this statement other than by using one of the adaptors. Having used the la ea 1 and 2 before, ea1 is very very slow. Ea 2 was fast but the odd size and shape where it protrudes from the body of my NEX made it odd to hold. Not to mention it uses slt. Wouldn't that make ur A7 an A99 albeit smaller but with the afore mentioned odd shape. Or maybe u meant by using other mount-to-FE adaptors in which case will be MF only. I think that would only appeal to a particular group of shooters. I definitely need my fast AF.

Isn't it similar to E mount? So any E adapters available on ebay can be used? even if not, it shouldn't take long for the chinese to come out with it

Still thinking... price is very enticing... :bsmilie:

but definitely not this year... definitely will not be bug free for the first few months anyway... LOL

The Nikon F to Sony A7/7r adapter is already available. Your Nikon Ai & AiS lenses will work very well on either of these cameras. I intend to use my 24f2, 28f2.8, 50f1.2 & 105f2.5 AiS lenses on either the A7 or 7r. So all I need is add the 24-70f4 zoom, and I will be fine. My old NEX 5N will be a back-up. Cheers.

Woohoo... I intend to use my OM and M42 lenses on A7. The fun is starting all over again. I may just buy the kit lens instead of the Zeiss zoom though.

Ouch.
I think Conorus modified Contax N Carl Zeiss lenses to fit Canon EF mount with AF function, metering + iris control - will also be hit.
No one will bother anymore. That is the end of Conorus' 财路.

Instead of spending money to buy the unmodified Contax N Carl Zeiss lenses + spend lots of time & money & effort & risk to send them to Canada to Conorus to modify. Why bother?

Now just spend that money to buy a new Zeiss lens made for Full Frame Sony A7/A7r and you got AF + metering + iris control.
Plus in future maybe IS too.

I think the lens lineup is not good.

Why a 35mm f2.8? I thought they should be able to do f2.0 looking at RX1.

They should start with portable primes like fuji.

1) 35mm f2.0 or even f1.4 (the FF 35mm f1.4 lens are not really that big)
2) 85mm f2.0

To me FF is mainly about getting the DOF. nowadays sensor tech is pretty good and APSC sensors are excellent. There is nothing in it for me to get the R7 with 35mm f2.8 lens when Fuji is coming out with 23mm f1.4 APSC lens.

The A7 and A7r looks similar to Olympus EM series :-)... Yeah ibis would be awesome to have

As mentioned. IBIS on a full frame sensor will b challenging to implement especially on such a small body. Probably will b on d A mount FF compact.

Maybe our needs is different.

Getting the body and the f4 zooms 24-70 with a few primes seems manageable for a start assuming u offload your existing gear.

I am not into Tele range . 24-70 plus a good prime seems a good way to start

If they did a 35/2 then it would be the same as - and cannibalise the sales of - the RX1R.
