If you are a 35mm shooter, can keep the RX1. It has good points still, such as sealed customised Zeiss lens meaning no dusty sensor problem, it is the last few model Made In Japan (if you care the origin- A7 and A7R is Made in Thailand to minimise cost), it is a F2 Prime and probably better than the 35F2.8.

24mega pixel is really quite a huge file to manage, and 36mega pixel (from my D800E) is really too big file for normal users to manage. You need to upgrade PC?

Some website tested wide angle Leica lens with A7R, and it produces a bit of magenta issue like Nex 7.

Will be attractive for users who prefers 50mm or zoom lenses though.

sigh.. the problem is...i hardly got the time to take pic. so to sell RX1 and buy A7 + couple of lens...its like waste of $$. If A7 has good and fast AF, touch screen (like EM-1) , no need to think liao :bsmilie:

Since last year march, I own a i7-3930, 16GB RAM and a SSD. Still got room for improvement. I am ready for 36MP! ;p

Haha... Good for you!

I meant to say, that if you have a RX1 or RX1R, probably no rush to upgrade if you are a 35mm shooter. No one is complaining of a 36mp camera though if you need big files to crop. Just that new cameras comes out every quarter or half yearly, so cannot afford to upgrade all the time.

I dont think the painful ones are RX1 or RX1R users though, but more for the Leica M users. $10k price for the Leica M body can buy you a A7R with a few good lenses! Think Leica will be worried finally.

Wow I didn't expect that, I just assumed the A7 would be made in Japan since it's basically a top end model. Not that it should matter though. I'm pretty sure Sony's QC is consistent regardless of manufacture location.

I also think its possible that they didn't release a 35mm f/2.0 lens just so there wouldn't be a mass riot by RX1 & RX1R owners like myself (i'm half joking).

The A7 with 35mm f/2.8 looks about the same size as the RX1 with f/2.0, in terms of lens protrusion. Lens diameter also looks similar though the glass element on the f/2.8 is of course smaller.

I think the 55mm f/1.8 looks promising but given the price, it has to be VERY impressive in terms of image quality to justify the 1K US pricetag

Aside from the smaller form factor and that it's made in Japan, the only other advantage that the RX1 holds, that I can see, is the quieter leaf shutter, and ability to flash sync up to 1/2000. Come to think of it, does the A7 even have an inbuilt flash? Also in one of the youtube reviews posted earlier the guy said that base ISO is 200 on the A7, instead of 100 on the RX1. If that is true, I wonder why they did that.

In all other respects all hail the new king the A7. This is gonna be a big win for consumers. I'm devouring all the articles about this cam trying to learn more about it

Whatever you got nowadays, all linked to one another. Without PC, your can't save and process your digital photos. Therefore, we must also take note of the computer world for monitor, CPU, storage etc updates. That's why I into time lapse, computer process fast else I will be turning to bed while the movie are creating. ;p

I am guessing that most of us are keen on the A7R with the extra pixel of 36mp. But with more pixel than the RX1R, i am guessing also that the low light high iso will not be as good as the RX1R, another advantage of the RX1R.

Anyway, have anyone seen the high iso sample pictures of the A7R anywhere? Most good camera can take good daylight shots, but will be keen to know the high iso shots of A7R, such as 6400 and above?

I think Sony has priced the A7R really well this time, as compared to the RX1. It is quite a big jump from Nex 7 but just slightly more than the initial launch price of Nex 7.

The 55f1.8 (if it is good) is also well priced, since the E mount Zeiss 24mm F1.8 was priced higher though it is not even a FF lens.

For those without a FF DSLR, this is one of a good catch, if the IQ proves to be good (not just for the 36mp since most users will end up printing normal size photo or view it in a ipad).

or worst posting full size photo at Fb and Fb will just ruined the IQ

As long the "toys" does what I wanted, I will get it. Hopes next FF A-mount will be my choice. :D

Have a good evening everyone and dreams of owning the A7/A7r ASAP. (Alpha Sony Always Preferred)

can't wait to see some reviews of it soon!

If it is really good, maybe sell my Nikon DSLR and go light, while keeping my RX1R for street shots.

More keen on the RX10 though, with the superb zoom lens.... Very scared of dusty sensor, and this one may really replace my Nikon setup!

can't wait to see some reviews of it soon!
