Official Sony A7 or A7r discussion thread (Season II)

just to check, i googled and saw the following adapters for sale.
Kipon, Nipon or Novoflex

I know the Novo is the most expensive and best build of the lot but does it really matters in terms of IQ or etc anyone with experience with the mentioned adapters?

Novoflex is the best built, and it fits exactly without any gap... so it can take most lenses without shaky feeling.

Voigtlander (if you are using M lenses) is close to the Novoflex quality as well, and thus it is very close to the price of Novoflex.

It should not affect the IQ though.

A cheap adapter might have poorer qc and workmanship [ metal shavings, coarse threads ]. If u were to get one that has an inferior fit, there might be "play" between adapter & lens mount. when doing long exposures and u got a very strong light source shining at your system, u might experience light leak =) of course that's the worst case scenario.

Most often its just the "play" that most people including me cant tolerate. A shaky lens etc.If you gonna get an expensive piece of glass, might as well go for a quality adapter. Hmm Kipon is pretty value for money. nice tight fit, relatively cheap as compared to metabones and novoflex from what i've heard. of course u get what u pay for, a fellow forumer got his lens stuck to the adapter.

I used pixco ef and fd and md mounts beforr..quality really isn't bad at all..they work well...I didnt buy expensive adapters because I knew i was going to sell the lenses eventually and I did together with the adapters

same for me.. specially me I don't want to share adaptors so most of my adapted lenses will have it's own adaptors easy to mount and dismount. So if I buy Novo it will be very exp investment for me

its ok also one of the lower end adaptors... when buying adaptors make sure the inside paint is matt so it will not bounce the light. I have one China brand adaptor the paint inside the adaptor is the same as outside shiny I am getting some ghosting similar effects

best among the adaptor with AF on Canon Lenses is the Metabone but price will set you back around 5xxSGD some cheap brands out cost only around 199SGD in Ebay. Like this this brand seems ok also but not tested as they seems to be new kid in the block in terms of AF solution adaptor for Canon to NEX Mount

I have and am using fotga adapters. They have nice matt finish, and are generally well built with no play. I've had MD, FD, AI-s, C/Y, EF fotga adapters and all are awesome.

Oic...thanks for the advice! Bought my kipon for Nikon lens from chiff but kinda costly. Bought fotga awaiting it to be shipped to me. Hopefully it doesn't flare
