Because the Image Quality of A7R is VERY significantly better than A7, especially when matched with the 2 FE prime lenses. Finally a mirrorless camera matching the IQ of the top D800E.
It is also a more demanding camera than A7, as 36mpx requires slightly more steady hands, especially with the 55FE. Once you understand it's character, every shots are just amazing.

Hmm. Anyone has issues sending images over to smartphones via wifi direct? Managed to link up with the remote control app using my S4 but cant seems to send or receive files.
By the way, just need to comment that the details and sharpness I get from the a7r+55f1.8 is much much more than my a77+sal50f14.

you need to on the "PlayMemories Mobile" app in your smartphone to transfer images

if you already downloaded play memories but still cant transfer, Go to Wifi>Advanced and uncheck 'Auto network switch'

i'm going to wait and see if it drops below 1k before even thinking of getting it..dont'e need it but if the price is right..why not..i still find it too big in size to be portable..
The 35 on the other hand is just handy to have..I already carry the 2470 which is big enough..add the 55..takes up more space...i like the 35 as the camera with this lens actually fits inside my pocket..

Try checking with the sellers in the BNS thread selling their 55FE bought from overseas. Looks like they have bought a few sets cheap in HK for less than $1000 and trying to make some profits. Maybe they will sell you at their buying price below $1000. No warranty though.
50mm may not be your favourite focal length, but if it is, you need to try the 55FE. It is the new standard set for a 50mm. It is that good.
