Your 55FE needs to show its real power and resolution.

Its potential is limited by your A7 now.

Once it touches a A7R, it will not be the same 55FE anymore.

BTW, Changi T3 selling without GST:
$26xx for A7R
$12xx for 55FE
$99x for 35FE

All comes with 15mths warranty. Buy now and get a limited RED paperbag.

Haha. Immuned. Heng ah. A7 good enuff for me. Rather invest on lenses on d way till A9R comes. Keke

Look at the a77, a99. A700, A900. Actually there was the a850 too.

There's a A6000 too....

I think C & N & F naming have more guideline....

new naming conventions perhaps.

the 3-digit model numbers were for the old-school DSLRs. as for the 2-digit models, they were DSLT cameras. and the number corresponds to the series i.e. A700 -> A77, A900 -> A99 and so on.

Is this the one in public hall or after immigration?

Same price for the one in public hall and the shops after immigration, since the shops in public hall are selling all products with GST absorbed, while shops after immigration are selling without GST. So it means the same thing.

The main difference though is that there are more available stocks in the shops after immigration, and they will likely have stocks for the full range of cameras/lenses.

The T3 shop in public hall carries smaller quantities of products, and you might need to check for availability or pre-order for some models.

Either way, the products are all local sets with full local warranty, and it is better than to buy from some sellers selling overseas sets around the same price quoted, but without warranty.

The opportunity to leverage on price difference (with some sellers buying cheap overseas and sell here at a profit) was more prominent when 55FE was launched in HK/Japan/Korea (and at cheaper price than SG) but not launched in Singapore then, but with healthy stocks coming into Singapore lately, no point getting overseas sets at similar price but taking risk of no local warranty.

Yea Zoomz, Can tell many jumped on the arbitrage opportunity on the Fe55 even up till now. In jpn , with the Exception of bigger retailers BIC/yodobashi, A fe55 is easily available for about 80000 yen there which comes up to about $970 bucks due to our strong currency advantage. I dont judge those who do it on BNS cuz it's a free market , willing buyer/willing seller. Nothing wrong with taking advantage of the difference between two markets. But truth be told, sometimes i Just don't quite understand the need to be the first to BBB and pay that premium for a grey set. I either buy a local set with full warranty to support local retailers or hoot one while im there on one of my frequent trips. I guess for some, the thrill of being one of the first few to get their hands on the latest equipment is worth all of it.

Agree with ZoomZ. And the one in public hall some of them last time always said they dont sell sony lens. May check again one day.

They have to sell lenses nowadays, or they will have difficulty selling their camera bodies. They only carry small quantities though, as they have smaller bargaining power to get more stocks when it is the product of the month.

They might probably keep 1-2 of the lenses for their 1-2 sets of the camera bodies, and in this case, if they are selling a A7R, they will try to keep a lens for it.

If you have tried to buy a 35FE in Dec/Jan at most of the shops, they would have told you that they have stocks but only for customers buying camera bodies at the same time.

Anyway, if you are at T3 airport shop, you can try to pre-order if they don't have ready stocks. Business is business, a ready customer with hard cash cannot be rejected.

If just buy lens no need go airport la...funan shops can get that price already.
Dunno about camera body price

Hahaha... good to know. With local set selling at more realistic prices, no need to buy overseas set lah.

Camera body price should drop gradually too. Must pay a visit to Funan soon...

ZoomZ, I bought the a7r body from there last time and yes they only keep 1 stock but they dont sell any lens. Few times go there they said the same thing. May be now they have, shld try again

Like one hiadee mentioned, that Funan stores are now selling lenses at below RRP, which is common after the initial launch. This should be similar to the Airport store since the best they can do is absorb GST.

Try checking with Funan first. Probably more fruitful since airport may not keep enough stocks.

Either way, you can buy local sets with full local warranty. You definitely need warranty as AF lenses can have more issues than manual lenses, include focus alignment, AF motor problem.

No point buying overseas sets now as price is similar. Overseas set without warranty should be priced as non warranty grey set, which is less than $1k if bought from HK for grey set.
