OFFICIAL: Canon EOS 700D User Thread

That is why forget the 3 digit body like my friend mention. Haha!

The new camera has reached our shore, selling at SRP of $999 (body alone).

Actual street price will be cheaper than that.

Anyone has bought it?

A friend bought it $880.

Price of brand new EOS 650D has dropped below $800. No wonder so many 650D owners are angry over Canon for launching of the 700D with insignificant upgrades, and priced cheaper than 650D. This caused the 650D's price to drop. EOS 650D is not even 1 year old.
I'm not at all angry, I bought mine to shoot, not to do business.

Consumer electronics always depreciate eh;)

hehe call me cheapskate, but its no difference to me. current price is lower, but the goodies(not bad) i got during promo period makes up for the value:bsmilie:

last Fri i asked ard $880, maybe a few bucks cheaper or free screen protector. Anyone with better lobang can post to share :)

I know that this is a little random but I'll be getting my first DSLR sometime this week. I've read much about the 650D and have pretty much made up my mind to get it. But with the release of the 700D now, what would be the smarter thing to do?

1) Get the EOS 700D + Weaker Lens
2) Get the EOS 650D + Stronger Lens

Any comment/suggestion will be really useful as I'm sorta in a dilemma now. The purpose of my camera would mainly be for personal shooting :)

After seeing few online review. Almost no different on 700D & 650D.
Main notice diff on 700D is that the mode dial can turn 360 degree and the 18-55 kit lens come with the newer STM motor.
IMO, get the 650D will do. Or the even cheaper 600D.

I would get the Canon 650D as I don't see any significant improvement in the 700D.

I would get the 650D + better lens as oppose to 700D + normal kit lens (if price difference is really not that much). Or I would wait and get the 70D or 7DmkII.

i'd opt for 650d with the 18-135 kit lens, you'd get a better price

Wow, thank you so much for all the responses guys! I was really quite undecided till I saw that all of you had a consensus on getting the 650D + better kit lens. The only thing that I was worried about is whether or not the discontinuation of the 650D would have a significant impact on its price should I decide to sell this body 2-3 years later and upgrade to a better one.

Frankly speaking... I don't think 2 or 3 years down the road, 650D and 700D will have much of a difference in term of pricing in the 2nd hand market should you wanted to sell. Look at 450D and 1000D in the 2nd hand market, they should fetch about the same (with 450D slightly better) pricing.

I would go for 650D with 18-135mm STM and 40mm pancake :)

2-3yrs down the road in the BnS section, the only difference between 650D and 700D in ppls mind is the 2nd hand 700D they are buying are likely to be manufactured at least 1yr after the other 2nd hand 650Ds. At least ppl with the 650D can say I got a touch screen over the 600D. 700D owners say my dial goes 360 ;)

Yes, that should be the metality. However, not everybody thinks like you. Some are upset of the depreciation of their cameras within a year.

In 2 to 3 years' time, both cameras are likely to be deemed as obsolete models, with the difference between the 2 cameras to be approximately a mere $100 or so.

Then they should not have bought rebel. Rebel refresh every year :bsmilie:

the 600D and 650D have much better value now due to 700D release.

we should be happy as we can use this depreciation to our benefit

There are older models out there like 600D/650D that are arguably the essentially same but a lot cheaper.

so if you still decide to buy the latest model, plz dont complain and feel upset later.
