OFFICIAL: Canon EOS 700D User Thread

Just remember before you buy, check on both the READ and WRITE speeds. The advertised is usually the READ speed only, the WRITE speed can be lower.

And you would also need to check whether the camera itself can optimize the higher speed SD cards.

Finally got my SD card, I got the Extreme 45MB/s 16GB. I got the card based on the recommendation here:

http://digital.photorecommendations.com/recs/2012/08/memory-cards-tested-in-canon-t4i/

Clears buffer much faster than my Ultra 30MB/s, thought that means that I use up the memory card faster!

I wanted to get the Extreme Pro initially, but from what I read the camera can't take advantage of the speeds of the Extreme Pro.

Good deal!

Oh ... did u get the SD or microSD + SD adapter? the microSD has the flexibility of using it for other mobile devices should you decide to change your SD card in future.

Nah, I bought it mainly for birding actually. :)

Anyone has any idea how much the 700D + 18-135 lens cost right now?

Calling the common shops is the fastest way to know. RRP $1,349 straight from Canon website. It should be lower from those common shops listed in the price guide

Few months back (b4 cash rebate promo), street price was around $1.1k++.

I also decided on the 700D mainly cos it's the newer model with new STM lens as this is my first time buying DSLR and not an upgrade. Well, the 360 dial and the fact that it's a newer model made me decide on it's purchase.
Initially was comparing with 100D but realized it was too small for my hand.

I just hope that 1-2 years down the road, you won't find it big and bulky..

Well, same here. But seriously, the prices of both 700D and 100D are similar. So might as well go for the 700D for more value in it. Gonna get mine this weekend! Have you tried calling the shops for quotation?

I have bought already bro, last month but i bought kit 1, 18-55mm.
The 2 lowest priced seemed to be AP and TK, about the same, in fact.

Ok. Cathay quoted me S$1163 and SLRR S$1189 for the 700D 18-135 kit. How's the camera going for you? Is the AF fast enough for candid shots? I am worried that it may not be fast enough ah, so may be considering 70D which I do not think is a great camera to carry around on a date.

$1100+ for a 700D with 18-135 is very attractively price. Four years ago, a 550D with 18-135 is above $1600. And you are right, the 70D is bigger & heavier than a 700D, and costs much more.

As I mentioned earlier, it's my first DSLR, so I can't compare much.
So far everything including the AF is ok to my newbie standard.
I am sure 70D would be better with more features but it's too costly for me at the moment.

It's my first DSLR, so far so good, at least I can hold it comfortably.

3 years down the road, I'm finding it a burden to bring it around everywhere I go. Lens and body both gets heavier with every upgrade but my skills remains as 3 years back.
