Official Canon EOS 60D User Thread Part I

Just got it last night from TK Foto... $1439 also... :-D

maybe going to SLR to check either today or tomorrow...

I check with SLR before going to TK Foto... the price they give me is $1460... but at that time only one unfamiliar salesperson is around so maybe he jack up the price...

Anyway, john 3:16 is $1440 but must be in cash. TK Foto accept NETS...

Did anyone buy the EOS 60D from Alan Photo at Sim Lim? If yes, how much is it?

Get quoted $1420 with GST by cash, hope that help :) (I get all my EOS body from them) think of changing my 550D to 60D too....

Just bought a 60D. Upgrade from 550D. Coming from a xxxD user for 7 years, 60D is HEAVY!

The 7D would have been a real upgrade. A 60D constitutes compared to the 550D only a (small) evolution and should better be named 600D instead. Let’s face it; it does not have any of the professional features the XXD series was famous for. It has turned into a more advanced entry/customer body with no appeal for the advanced amateur /semi-professional photographer, neither will professionals chose it as a second body. SD cards, plastic body and tilt screen, lower speed and the old 9-point AF modul indicate that Canon is addressing those who come from older bodies, 3xxD/4xxD- series or the point & shoot fraction who wish to upgrade. I think that Canon wanted to emphasize the HD Video features of the 60D catering the new body to the needs of those you foremostly intent to shoot video.
I take it that the xxD-series is officially ended until Canon re-considers by releasing a real and worthy “60D” that may be named for the sake of tradition 70D.

Me lor.

Bot it last week from AP & got the body for $1400 flat incl GST (cash). I forgo freebies & bot other things together. so ok i guess  It wasn't really a good price cos at that time the newspaper juz advertise it to be $1599 RRP, so the guys at AP kept hogging over that RRP & say they give very good discount. But sale techniques r like that lor

So far only complain with 60D is the build in flash tends to overexpose, feels like TTL sometimes not working like that, but this issue surely can be fixed by a firmware update next time

Alan Photo seems to be cheapest if they don't chop people. ;p

Thks Bro.

most of you should be asking, why want to get the body at that price?
well, those "popular" shop do offer lower price, but I like the service of the shop keeper,
most of the "popular" shop keeper won't even bother me after I ask the price.
some of them even ask me that "do you have money?"

I must admit that I didn't wear new/nice clothes to shop,
but doesn't mean that I don't have money:sticktong

at the shop I bought my 60D,I feel friendly with the shop keeper,
the entire shopping feel is great compare with other "popular" shop,
pay 30~50 bucks more for the service,I think it is worth it (for me)!

I guess whether it is real upgrade or not depends on the user.

You might as well say 1Ds is the real upgrade.

To me the tilt screen itself is worth the upgrade price.

Bro dont have to compare like that. To you if its worth it can liao. A lot will say 7D 7D more worth the upgrade, but i assure you many of them wont or dont know its full potential. Can be BBB virus, or "upgrade-proof" mentality. Well 7D is a big upgrade alright, together with a huge price tag. If you willing to pay then okay why not. Its not as if the 7D is priced the SAME as the 60D, then there will be reason to make noise now would we?
;p If you want to keep linking 60D to amateurs, then i think you are the amateur, since you judge one by the camera not the skill.
