Sorry for not making myself clear, i am jumping over to Canon so i am choosing my first lens to go with 5DMK3. I shall try them in Canon showroom later :D thanks

Didn't you buy the 5D3 with a kit? The 24-105 comes as a kit for the 5D3.
Usually people who buy the 5D3 dont' normally have a "first" lens for it..it usually isn't their first camera.
Even jumping from Nikon, you should have already a preference of lens when in Nikon, just get the equivalent from Canon.
The 16-35 and 24-105 are totally different purpose lens so quite hard to justify which is the better "first" lens.
A landscape photographer will definately get the 16-35, a portrait photographer won't, nor will a wedding photographer so there's no correct answer to this..only you will know the answer :)

Hi bros who are on Mac OS, anyone here experienced EOS Utility crashing when trying to transfer files from your 5D3?

I have the same issue. Need to reinstall the eos software again. Need to remove n delete old eos files then reinstall. If u have done so and problem exist go down to CSC could be pcb board of camera got issue. Before ur warranty ends.

Prices are dropping now in US: from canonprice watch
B&H now at 2994 USD

wonder when will we see the price drop in sg

Groan... I paid $4150 when I was in Singapore during the summer. And now its about $3500 when the new pricing comes into effect. I don't really feel like I was 'taken' since no one else made the decision for me but I could have bought some decent glass for the extra $650. A nice 50mm f/1.4 from Canon or Sigma would have been nice. I guess now its just money down the :flush:.

Same thing happened on my 5D II, I purchased it for S$4050 on 2008, one year later it's 31xx, now is 22xx? So I lost 3 pieces 50/F1.4

Drop price also no use unless they have stock !
Anyway, we expect body to drop its price. In 3 years time, it would just be $2k.

The speed and scale of the price drop is rather fast. The camera was only launched half a year ago! xxxD or xxD series I can understand, but xD series...

yep, doesn't mean much when stock runs out..

i've gotten my 1st batch at 4280 and 3rd batch at 4080 respectively, prices sure will go down but not at a rapid rate, probably in a year's time :)

The price drop does not mean anything to local users because Canon Singapore knows they have a huge market to milk here regardless of how much they price the camera.

If you look back, they seldom follow in the footstep of other countries in cutting price, maybe they will but it's many months or even a year after other countries have done so. So unless you often travel to HK or US, probably Malaysia is the only place to go to if you are hoping to buy the camera at cheaper price. Locally you have to wait long long......

Btw stock is aplenty and almost all shops have stock of the camera now

Price dropping is inevitable for tech, especially in this era... tech development is much faster than the production.

Do remember that the price it dropped is measurable, but the time you spend on taking pictures of memories and etc., are priceless...

You cannot wait and wait and wait... By the time it match your ideal price, the next generation is coming out...

As many people said, photography is an expensive hobby...

Do you guys buy cameras to take unforgettable moments or as investments?

Well, I'm assuming most people that buys this camera would ALREADY have a camera. Shouldn't be any lost opportunity there.

Have you registered the 40mm STM lens for correction in EOS Utility?
