Phenomenon
In extreme dark environments* when the LCD panel illuminates, the displayed exposure value may change. However, when shooting with a lens attached, this change in exposure value may not significantly affect the shooting results.
* Some examples of a dark environment are as follows:
1. When the body cap is attached
2. When the lens cap is attached
Hmmm, I just noticed that the USA version of the advisory (the quote above is from the Canon SEA/Singapore source) does not have the extra bit in bold. Wonder why Canon SEA/Singapore decided to add it in. I mean, it's obvious that when body cap or lens cap is attached, the environment is extremely dark. Is Canon SEA/Singapore trying to be sarcastic? I read somewhere that the 'phenomenon' occurs even when you shoot outdoors in bright conditions. Canon did not clarify if the exposure may be affected (albeit marginally only) by light permeating through the LCD panel even in normal shooting conditions.
I must state upfront as I have mentioned in my other posts that I am not losing sleep over this light leak issue and may not even get the FOC fix at Canon. But Canon still has the responsibility to its customers to address this issue satisfactorily.
