Hmmm.... The latest from CR is a rumour that Canon may be announcing a recall next week. Anybody hear anything about this?

I hope that's just a rumor.

I hope that's just a rumor.

Hope so too however, Buydig in the U.S. has just taken the 5D3 off their website. They had an large order cancelled by Canon due to a pending 'recall'. Hope this is all just a misunderstanding... Would be nice to hear from Canon one way or the other.

Read from the canonrumor website.... It is not recall... It should be a new firm ware...

maybe new batches of 5D3 will come with transparent body caps... to shut the mouths of those who complained so much :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

Good…recall..stop all orders..worldwide no stock…
BEST…so those who already have the camera can enjoy it's goodness while the rest of the world wait…haha..
seriously, if they really recall just because of the "leak" issue, then i'm sure 99% of existing 5D3 owners will be happy we bought ours with the "problem"…at least we have the camera to use!

While they're at it, might as well make the whole body transparent, so we can add led lights that blink to pimp it out like the good old nokia phones!

Wah like that win liao loh... The pictures taken will be nothing but of blinking lights! :P

Recall also no big deal. At the end of the day, it's just a camera. Not a medicine you've been ingesting and suddenly someone discovers it can cause serious side effects like stroke or diabetes.

was it any problem in the first place? :bsmilie:

recalling all 5D3 units world wide because of this issue is lame. it's not like some major problem or safety issue. they can just simply fix future batches, and offer free servicing to existing users if they want to. Just like the flare issue with the older version of 24-105L - if you want to service, Canon will service it FOC. If you don't think it's a problem, don't need to come down to CSC.

Let's not forget that this is a rumour. Nothing has been substantiated.

very unlikely it will call for recall... the flaws are software issue. and firmware upgrade will be able to solve those issue.

I agree and hope that this is the case. It could also be a DPP issue.

In either case (firmware or DPP), the issue should be resolved by a download... no need to recall, cancel orders or hold inventory.

hi will someone who owned a 5 D mk 2 and now bought the mk 3 please tell me how much better is the mk 3 from the user point of view? thanks

depends on what you shoot?

but in anycase, from my point of view, it's good. ergonomics is very excellent, to the extend that Kai from DigiRev says it's as good as porn. High ISO is much more cleaner, AF is the latest system and responsive.

If any of the above is a problem for you in 5D2, you will find yourself liking the 5D3. If the above isn't any of a concern for you, or if you shoot on P or Green Box, then you can forget it ;p

The latest from Canon Rumors:

a) "I changed the title of this post from 'recall' to 'stock delayed'."
b) "We have confirmed new firmware for the 5D Mark III that addresses a few issues is coming very soon. Cameras could get held back for this reason. The firmware will for sure address the 200 f/2L IS and 800 f/5.6L IS issues."
c) "Another theory I have heard is a new version DPP is coming out next week to address the issues with it and the 5D Mark III RAW files, and the cameras are being held back to get the new version into the boxes."

I think that the best way to describe the 5D3 is... a 5D Mark II on 7D steroids.
