can anyone that have gone for the free class for 5dMk3 provided by Canon share what are the topics/areas mentioned?

Was trying out the cam a while ago and discovered a heavy tint of orange across the subject I shoot. The lens used is EF24-70mm 2.8L. This is only my 2nd time trying it out since I got it 2 weeks ago. Sad....pls help. Tks.

Allow me to use my telepathic powers to find what you were doing. Oh wait, I can't because I don't have them. Please tell us more about the settings you used, especially the white balance and the surroundings you were shooting in.

Hi dodgethis, thanks for responding. The settings was office environment with flourescent lightings, ISO 3200, AWB and single S shot. I tried again with single multiple shots on a same spot and noticed the orange tint seems to move from low > centre then top. Not sure I have touched something in the menu. Called Canon and was told to show them the pics. I hope to save some fuel and time if I can get help here. Incidentally is there a link to teach how to upload a picture? Yes, a picture paints a thousand words:)

Actually using Auto ISO is more for convenient sake.i switch between Auto ISO and manual ISO depend on situations.this settings is not difficult to master.

Honestly, situations that affect the exposure so quickly is uncommon.

simply put, your shutter speed was too fast and captured the fluorscent lightings flickering.

I don't feel it's relying on technology, more on exploiting it, since it's made available to us. Sure I can make do with manual ISO, albeit the bit of inconvenience.

Companies spent millions on R&D and consumers fork out money to acquire these gadgets but choosing to go back to primitive ways when there are aids readily available on hand? Doesn't make sense to me.

U can call it exploiting or whatever term sounds better. Haha. But my pt is when it fails, ur mindset can so used to having the camera figure out settings for u already that u cant think as fast as u used to.

I always put it on Auto ISO because I never know when something will happen in that few seconds.
Like my kids actions.
If iam shooting stationary subjects or I have time to play around, then i will set the settings all in manual mode.

I am sure using the method i mentioned is enough to shoot kids. The shutter speed maybe high enough but the af and the user might not be. Haha. Happens to me alot of time already. I just learn to pre empt what will happen. I still miss shots though. Lol.

no leh. u nvr read the previous post from me.

ok. let me tell u all how to get the exposure compensation, auto iso and shutter speed that you guys want

use the camera in Av mode. then set the iso to auto. adjust the exposure compensation as wanted. put the shutter as auto or any minimum speed u want.

the camera will meter according the exposure u want, then the shutter speed will go to the lowest possible. if its on auto, then it will go to the lowest speed thats closest to your focal length. then the iso will compensate to get the exposure. simple.

Thank you very much for providing the links, ricleo! Problem solved. Indeed my shutter speed was too fast with some shots at 1/800 :embrass:

U will be surprise their price is cheaper than those well-known stores ....
I actually "give up" two reservation "stock is here today" offers because a simple walk around in SLS able to get at cheaper price.
