Was wondering if anyone of you had problem registering your 5DMKIII at the website? According to Canon, they have upgraded their site and ask for me to re register my user.

When completed the re registration, i have yet to receive a confirmation email. Now, when trying to log in, they ask me to check email to confirm the registration?:bigeyes::bigeyes:

Sigh! Please help!

Thanks!

So, guess still no solution to the problem with Digital Photo Professional generating soft images from Canon EOS 5D Mark III RAW files?

Any other issues reveled yet?

Btw, thank you all for beta testing.

When are you guys improve your skills?

Or is this yet another retail therapy for most of you?

Happy point and shoot....

What's the point of your post?

And I don't get soft images from DPP for 5D3 raw files. They are as sharp as my lens can provide.

To all those who say the light leak issue is irrelevant because nobody shoots with a body cap on should go back and read again. Of course nobody does that, you *******, but it is a way to expose the issue.

"It seems a new issue has popped up for the Canon 5dmk3. Multiple people are reporting that there is a light leak through the top LCD panel that directly affects metering. The easiest way to detect this issue is to put the body cap on the camera body as well as cover the viewfinder. Then place the camera in “P” mode at ISO800 and press the LCD backlight button."

Got it?

Don't feed the troll.......

This thread is meant for 5D3 users, those who are interested in it, and those interested in bona fide discussions about the camera. Seems to me either you think the camera is a dud (in which case go troll elsewhere), or you are suffering from sour grape diarrhea.

Why you feeding the troll....We're all retail therapy sluts...why else would be spend $4k on something that leaks light..heck, from the tests, it shows our thumbs leak light..so are we defective?

So what if DPP generates soft images..Canon is working on that but there's Photoshop,Lightroom,Aperture to use which most people use anyways..not DPP.
Light leak from LCD directly affects metering? Sure it does...with the cap ON...it does nothing with a lens on and cap OFF...already tested and proven...and if you read up on how TTL works, you will see the LCD leak doesn't affect the TTL at the end of the day...and i also believe 99.9% of 5Dmk3 owners aren't really bothered by it at all...

Not feeding the troll cos I'm actually agreeing with him! :bsmilie: The troll wants to prove that we are retail therapy sluts mah.. so I just have to agree lor. He happy, I happy (with the new toy), everyone happy! World peace! :bsmilie:

hi all....
how is the 17-40 compared to the 16-35 ii on the 5D mkiii??...
is the latter worth the extra monies??.. I have a couple of 77mm filters which is the main reason why I am hesitant in getting the latter.. :(

I had the same dilemma once before...but ultimately i went for the 17-40mm because well, i figured at this focal range i wouldn't need an F2.8. And having 5mm more reach vs 1mm less wide...it wasn't that important to have the 16mm for me.
Secondly, if you research online for all the tests done between the two..you'll be surprised that many prefer the 17-40 the images have less flare and color fringing etc...and equally as sharp sometimes.
Thirdly, i too had all the accessories for a 77mm lens and i wasn't prepared to change all that for an 82mm..it'll cost too much.
Lastly, i managed to get the 17-40 2nd hand for under $800 which is almost half of what a 16-35 would sell for...and is the 16-30 2x better? It's not..in fact, it might not even be 5% better if the online reviews are accurate..

So just get the 17-40 unless you really want to always have the most expensive and newest of every lens type from Canon...(trust me, there are people like that, i have friends like that)

depends on what you take. your use for a 17-40/16-35 is for? Occassional/casual landscape with some streets and portraits, or for serious landscape (with all the filters etc) and you need the best IQ and optics?

If it's just for the ocassional landscape, for travel, for a general walk-about lens and for some portraits (on the 35-40mm end), 17-40 is good enough and value for money. But if you are a landscape shooter and you need the best IQ and optics, or you are a person who can afford and wants the best, 16-35 no doubt. There isn't any 3rd party alternative that can really match that yet.

I just got the Hercules protector as the film type keep getting smudges. I also see it does not have the top protector. What did u all use.

The Hercules one will also get smudges :) there's not thing that will not have facial oil stick on it hehe..The Hercules one is just easier to clean because i think it's glass...

i doubt its glass. It does take the blunt for knocks. I rather change the protector for $18 den the inner LCD plastic plate for $50

After some consideration I decided not to get the extended warranty.
My main concern is to guard against shutter replacement. Even so shutter replacement cost is even lower than the warranty cost unlike xxD and xxxD which may be worthwhile for them to get the warranty.

MY 50D last me 40 months and only been to CSC to replace the leather and the input rubber caps. Paying $350 - $400 for insurance in this case is a bit too much.

Any response from Canon on light leak issue? It is sad that Canon is keeping quiet.

Doesnt seem to have any response but many others from other forums have tested their canon dslr.
What i have gathered is that 60d and 7d doesnt have this issue.
Most of the 5diii has it, some people tested their 5dii and 1d and also have it.
Some even claim their nikon dslr also have it.
