Doesnt seem to have any response but many others from other forums have tested their canon dslr.
What i have gathered is that 60d and 7d doesnt have this issue.
Most of the 5diii has it, some people tested their 5dii and 1d and also have it.
Some even claim their nikon dslr also have it.

You mean 1D (Mark I) or 1D series?

I just tested a 1D4, no such issues.

After some consideration I decided not to get the extended warranty.
My main concern is to guard against shutter replacement. Even so shutter replacement cost is even lower than the warranty cost unlike xxD and xxxD which may be worthwhile for them to get the warranty.

MY 50D last me 40 months and only been to CSC to replace the leather and the input rubber caps. Paying $350 - $400 for insurance in this case is a bit too much.

Can anyone share what is NOT covered by warranty ?
I don't think shutter replacement is covered as they are considered "wear and tear".

basically anything that is not manufacturers' defect.

My friend d3 sensor died on him after 1 year odd.... And has to pay 1k triple plus to get it replaced... Get extended warranty and use installment to pay for peace of mind?

Wah dead sensor is like ultimately unlucky. Usually is shutter mechanism failure that's common for old cameras.

Any response from Canon on light leak issue? It is sad that Canon is keeping quiet.

Do you shoot with body cap on? If not it doesn't affect you...

yeah man.. warranty is like insurance.
If nothing happens you will feel that it's not that worth to get it.. but if something happens.. you are damn bloody glad that you bought it.

Friend's xxxD motherboard "not sure if that the term to use" spoiled and it costs around 70% of the market value to get a new board..
He did not have it fixed of course..

Reminds me of a friend of mine, whose's 5D series USB port died. CSC gave him a quote of $800 for a change for the whole circuit board.

I cant recall which 1d model, i read it somewhere.

Btw, does this issue affect your 5diii as well?

No leh, that was his first ever post! My guess is he hasn't followed the thread and just read the last few posts, so he has no idea how popular or not the 5Dm3 is.

looks like he wants to sell you a Mark 3.. seen a similiar nick somewhere, selling M'sia set?

hmm my memory is getting sucky :(

In anycase, I think this thread is too difficult to follow.. 5D3 too hot, going fast and furious :bsmilie:

I wonder the protographers who owns the 1D series and is aiming for 1DX will start a 1DX thread or not :bsmilie:
Must be a very interesting thread to see what 1DX brings to the table and the user's comments :D
