Official Canon EOS 5D Mark 3 - User Thread

Those who manage to get hold of the mkiii, did the new EOS Utility program come wtih the cam? Apparently the CD only consist of the instruction manual but no program to install. When I try to use my old EOS Utility to access the mkiii, it couldnt recognize the cam. Any idea?

See my earlier post, Yes the set come with EOS Digital Solution Disk ver.25.0. I use Photoshop CS5 for processing and had trouble until a Bro in this forum pointed out that there is CR 6.7 beta released by Adobe, that was great.

Download the plug-in as the bro above your post has mentioned. 1DX and 5D3 are supported with the plug-in, but note that it is labeled as a release candidate. Full release should be slightly later.

Rubbish lah.. I just spoke to Canon people, they confirm that it is supposed to be in-store starting today, but they seemed a little surprised that some of us got it yesterday.
He said that he wasn't sure why there is a delay for their show room set, but mention that once their showroom set come, the product book and magazine should be avail.
He also mention that I can call in again to check for availability for BG-E11 about 3 weeks later, they are still ordering from their sales office. Same for G1X accessories, not here yet.

I forgot to ask them why on the serial number, going to call them up on Monday to ask. Or ask Matthew Koh, the guy in charge of the 5D3 launch.

Very likely Canon thought they release the goods yesterday... most store will need to prepare, stock check this and that and probably start selling on Sat.... but lo and behold...... $$$$$ at the door step....... everything do in double quick time..... stock not yet touch the store already sold.... also a good gauge for them how many they gonna order the next round (assuming they gonna get the qty they order)..... and they will be wise to stock up.....:devil:

To get this level of detail and sharpness with a slow lens in such dim lighting conditions is just amazing to me.

Just want to add that all photos were shot RAW, converted to JPG with DPP. No editing was done except the cropping to get the 100% crop shots.

A couple more. Testing out the Al Servo AF, I am still very unfamiliar with the settings so I used more or less the default settings.

#5 - ISO1000 F6.3 1/500 277mm. The ball (which was very small in the VF!) was not rolling terribly fast, but it would have been a challenge (at least for me) if I had tried it with the 5D2.

I downloaded it but when I tried to install it there is an error message saying the update 'is not applicable'. Does the plug-in work on LR4, or CS5 only? If it works on LR4 too, then I must be doing something wrong.

Got my 5d mkiii with kit lens on sat.. Will see how far can NR goes with LR4.. But battery charging, gotta wait abit.. I think Parisilk might have stock left for those who are looking to buy.

Hmm I didn't download it since I don't really work on RAW files but rather JPEG file in CS5 (I am more familiar in Photoshop), so I didn't download that thing. But according to adobe forums, it should work on LR4 and CS5.

Selected the centre AF point only. The original (#5) was shot as max RAW size. #6 was actually >100% crop (of #5) I just remembered, my bad. I originally intended to crop 100%, but decided to crop even smaller to show the sharpness of the swoosh on the ball.

There are so many options for it.. like lock focus, or immediately switch focus to anything that comes into active AF points, etc.

the 7D has all these functions, can select to change the AF sensitivity blah blah. quite extensive, tweak until you happy.
