Meaning 24mm f/1.4 L fits mostly Canon cropped body and FF body? Thinking to get one. Since the kitlens wasn't so good for portraits.

wow, how much does it cost for the 24mm f/1.4 L?

just got my GGS screen protector from OP today. fits well... took e ggs 1 cos seems to protect the screen more since its like another glass layer.

wheres OP ? and how much does it cost? :)

its better as in it protects your screen from damage and scratches. the normal protectors just protect from scratches.

its at OP is @ Sim Lim Square Level 6. It cost $20 dollars. I also got a lenspen and blower!

Hello guys!

This is my 1st time posting in here.

I'm new to this ClubSnap Photography Community & also quite new to photography.

I can't wait to have my own 550D. Had fun with the camera at Canon Vivocity ;)

I will be purchasing Kit II for a start and aiming at 50mm 1.4 lens.

I'm interested in capturing images of people.(Potraits and so on)

I also wanna challenge myself for wedding photography :bsmilie:

That's it for now :D

Excellent choice! Thats the exact same combi I bought and the 50mm 1.4 lens is worthwhile..very nice for portrait shots.

Hi all,

Have question to ask regardign liveview, hope any kind soul can help:

1. I was trying to take video wt my 550D, from the user manual, it said that I can focus on liveview while recording, so I follow the instruction by pressing and hold shutter button half to focus, it does focus on the LCD, but then when I press the recording button to record at the same time, it's not responding, in the end, I have to release the shutter button and press teh recordign button, then it start recording. But when I released teh shutter button, the green rectangle changed to white, did I do anythign wrong for focusing in video?

2. When i was recroding a video yday, after a few min, the LCD shown, "...Camera will stop the video recording now..."(I can't really remember the exact word, but after displaying this message, the video recording actually stopped. At first, I thought is the memory card out of space, but when I checked, still few Gb available. I can simulate it again, does any bro know the reason why?

thanks a millions.

Hi theman2010,

How long did u record ur video? which format?

For 550d the max file is 4Gb per file.

Best to stick with manual focus when shooting video. The auto focus modes are unusable.

Regarding the video recording stopping, did you notice any memory card busy light? It is possible your SD card is too slow for sustained video recording.

1. All Canon Video enabled DSLR does not support continuous auto Focusing while video recording, unlike its digital camera like Canon SX 1 IS.

2. Your Memory speed is too slow. Canon recommends class 6 SDHC cards and above.

Hi skyymanz, jaegersing & Soons:
Thanks. My SD card has sufficient space, so i don't think is the space issue. But my card is grade 4 if not mistaken, so, may be is like Soons said should use grade 6 and above.

Hi Soons:
When you said "...does not support continuous auto Focusing...", what does this really mean? i thought once focus, the focus point will follow whenthe subject moved?

thanks...:)

You can always try the following:
Ask ur friend or family member to be your test subject. Ask them to stand a distance. Video record and press half shutter to focus. Then ask them to walk forward and see if ur subject is still in focus.

If u have a compact camera, try the same thing, then review both videos, u will know what I meant.

Anyway, for users using the 8GB pen drive memory card that comes with ur Canon camera, the memory card can support HD recording, with the condition that the file system of the memory card is not fragmented. Google fragment (hint: Windows De-fragmenter, sound familiar? :D ) if u wanna know the meaning.

FYI, 720p 60fps, 1080p 24fps, 25fps and 30fps carries the same bitrate. :(
I want Canon to update the firmware with 720p 24~30fps, in case I want to reduce the quality when I know my memory is running out.

Anyway, there is a time limit to how long the cam can take video. I think it should be around 12 mins (correct me if I am wrong but there is definitely a limit)...nothing to do with space running out if your card still has many gig left.

:)

That is FAT limit on the memory card and hard drive. Cannot help it unless canon are able to create a firmware that continues recording after the 4GB limit and spliting the video it 2 physical files.

The limit is not really due to file size, Canon videocams that record to SD card dont have this limit. I heard it is to avoid having the camera taxed as a videocam in europe or some stupid reason like that.
