do share your reviews thereafter man. =p

hi, anyone here owns the efs 18-135? care to share some thoughts? i am getting this lens this comin' saturday but according to reviews...its a bad lens.

Just got my 550D from AP at $1105 wgst it work well with my Tamron 17-50mm but thinking of getting the EF 17-40 F4L so I can give the Tamron 17-50mm and 500D to my son. Any Bros kind to share your view on this len (17-40F4L) or 17-55mmF2.8 that give better IQ on our EOS550D. I shoot 95% indoor portraits with control lighting. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like budget is not a prob...u might wanna go for the L?

The 17-55 is no doubt one of the best for cropped bodies but if you are going FF later on, this lens cannot be used already.

HTH ;)

Average lens I would say.
But I prefer 18-200mm more.

17-55mm IQ is better, faster and with IS.

Only loose out in built quality.

My the other complain is not enough reach. But now, with 550D's 18MP, cropping can be done. :)

Zonal77, ur are very excited last night. :bsmilie:

Even if u have lots of money to waste, I will still recommend 17-55mm IS USM. Rumours saying canon is releasing 24-70mm F2.8 L IS USM. I will be waiting for 3rd party like Tamron, Sigma to release F2.8 IS version of 24-70mm range, especially Tamron.

I took some picture of my son at the park.
I noticed the background (especially the dark green colour), got some pixelation and noise when viewed at 100%.
The exposure is correct (i.e. not under/over expose) and the iso is set at 100. Using JPeg.

How to avoid pixelation/noise?

Resize to 8MP.
Can shot a websize with a rectangle showing 100% crop?

Hi, may i know what is the brand of the 3rd party battery that you got? I was reading through this thread and read some horror stories regarding 3rd party batteries. So if you've found a reliable brand, it'd us help a lot. :]

I buy the batt from MS ($30-- forgot...). No brand from the battery itself. Rated abit higher maH and +0.2 voltage. Have to take it with a pinch of salt. Most important thing, it last as long as original and does not affect our 550D.

The only difference is the 3rd party battery status report for 1/3 bar is around 50+ shots left. The original battery report 1/3 bar around 80+ shots left(batt life around the same number of total shots for both). Have to use both a few more cycle to confirm this.

Make your aperture smaller by 2 f-stop. But still quite hard to capture sharp grass in the background. Either is wind on the grass creating small movement or hard to capture contrast in dark green color?

Hey guys..

I need to buy a backpack to use when i go holiday. Any brand and place to recommend?

Need it to hold the 550D and an extra lens and some other things such as water and etc.

thanks.

Too excited keke...

Clicked on the submit button one time too many when I see the page not loading...ended up with 3 posts at one shot...haha..

Anyway, it's pohkc that has the budget...not me...I only wanna aim the Tamron 17-50...think that's good enough for me haha..

:bsmilie:

Thanks Bro, want to reply also cannot because of site down... Actually the 17-40L is much cheaper than 17-55 that's why I'm consider the L, but worry the IQ lose out to 17-55, went though few site, some say 17-40 IQ is better some say 17-55 is better, hard to decide... I think to decide between for 7D and 550D is much easy for me, the different in price can get me a 17-40L len ..haha

Zonal 77, want to take over my Tamron 17-50 give you special price ..haha (get it from AP last 11/2009 w warranty) let my son use the 18-55is kit len good enough for him..hehe:bsmilie:

check with you guys, only when you use manual focus then you can turn the focus ring? i heard when using auto focus, if you turn the focus ring, it will spoil the lens..

is it true?

disclaimer: new photography and this is my first DSLR :embrass:
