They know a lot more than you think! Before making rude comments you should take a trip there (like I have) and you'll see that they are polite, open minded and very accepting of people from different lands and faiths.

You should also take a look at your English grammar and improve that too.

i second that

I am on 40D + 17-55mmf2.8 IS USM. I am considering to upgrade to 5D2 + 24-70mm f2.8 USM for better noise control and IQ.
95% of the time, I take pictures of my kids.

But I am concerned about the focusing aspects of 5D2 on 2 auto focus matters:
1) the focusing points are too near to the centre. (I need one point on the top and one point near the right hand side.
2) the focusing points, apart from the centre point, takes too long to focus.

I need fast focusing because children's expression changes in an instant. Can this be resolved?

I normally uses Tv of at least 125/sec because of kids' movement. will the lack of IS on 24-70mm f2.8 USM affect me?

Thank you.

You can focus and recompose your shot with the center AF

2) the focusing points, apart from the centre point, takes too long to focus.

Can't be helped. 7D might be what you are looking for, try to look for better lighting conditions to counter noise or use the flash(or external flash), or for my case, shrink the photo dimension

Try increasing the shutter speed if possible. Image Stabilizer is useful during slow shutter speeds(handheld), at 1/125secs I doubt you will need IS. Turn off the IS on your 17-55 and see if you could live with it.

I've taken quite a bit of children portraits using my 5D2 + 24-70 without much problems. unless u r photography in a really dark room, else you should be able to focus fine with the 5D2.

have u thought of maybe getting the 1D3 instead? its about the same price or cheaper than a 5D2 and with the fps + 19 cross type sensors u surely won't miss a moment of ur children :)

Dear Blurshot,

I guess I would have to aim using the centre point and use wider mm at the same time, then later go back to cut off those parts which I dont want. Can 5D2 do the following thing for me:

I fix the aperture, shutter speed, exposure compensation and flash compensation, then allow 5D2 to determine iso value, subject to my selection of the upper limit iso value of say 3200 iso. currently 40d only allows me a maximum of iso 400 when i put the iso to auto. so the auto iso function is not really helpful.

Thank you.

Dear Exhaust,

my impression is that 1d3 is superior in its AF and FPS while 5d2 is superior in IQ and low light iso. i wish they put both together! but the $$ side also ......... i think i may have to sacrifice one aspect......

actually i am more prone to sacrfice AF and opt for IQ bec I still can aim using the centre sensor point and go back to cut off those i dont want whereas i cant do much about the IQ part.

Hi good day everyone:)

Yes. But for cropping, you will need the help of PP software, or canon DPP

Personally I think it is better to compensate, so I can free up more shutter speed to reduce motion blur. I have not tried the auto iso as I always shoot in manual but the link below may shed some light

Congratulations on your 5D MkII. I'm sure that one of the shops in Funan would be able to help you with the eye cup and screen protector. If not, trying giving CSC a call to see if they have any spare eye cups they could sell at a nominal price.

it's been 1.5 months since i switched from 500d to 5dMkII and i am glad for the upgrade! the noise control is superb!

Canon's 16-35L II is the best UWA you can pair with 5D2's FF sensor.

Tokina 16-28 f2.8 n Tokina 17-35 f4 are 2 other cheaper alternatives for dd sensor

I also tried the 17-40L already i think it's good but got some little barrel vignette wide open.

So far i haven't tried to so damn expensive 16-35L hehe

how about the sigma 12-24 or the tokina 12-24 aswell? in case, will the 11-16 2.8 fit on FF cam? and how's the vignette?

11-16 will only work at 15 to 16 with no Vignette.11 to 14 will have quite serious Vignette. The other lens I haven't try before

so is it safe to say that i wanna get out of 14mm and below? definitely i will not take 16-35 maybe 17-40 onwards for my UWA.

If you want the best, TSE17 or TSE24.
Like a lot of pp here, I jumped from the 17-40 to the 16-35. Although the 17-40 isn't as sharp in the centre, I think its more even across the frame. For what it does, its worth every penny. The 16-35 is a bit of a disappointment in the frame edges, especially on the wide end, unless you stop down, I think to abt f8.
