is there even a mkIII?

This hasn't even been announced.

Even those lenses which have been, like the 300f2.8L II, isn't even available till now, so you guys can wait long, long.;p

Finally got my 5D2, hope I'm not too late for the part =P
One question, the 5D2 seems to yield darker photos overall even when shot in RAW. The white balance is quite off as well especially in orangy room light. Am I doing something wrong? My 50D gives me more accurate colors and exposure, anyone else observed this?

- are u using the same metering for your 50D and 5DMKII?
- what lens u using? shooting at what aperture? (some UW lens may have vignetting issues on FF since now its wider, maybe this makes your photos looks darker?)
- shooting in AWB (auto white balance)?

Never too late for anything. :D
Maybe try shooting in CWB.
Alternatively shoot in tungsten WB if the light color matches.
Cant say if its darker cauz i never owned or tried a 50D. :\

thanks for helping again sinned79 (=

- Same spot metering
- Lens using 16-35mm f2.8L II
- yes AWB. I think this is the problem.

On top of this, the pictures look a little washed out, either that or sometimes its a little too saturated. Does picturestyle have anything to do with shooting in RAW? from what I know picturestyle only affects Jpeg but i may be wrong.

Picture style affects JPEG images only.

raw files usually appears duller. u can apply S curve to get better colors. that's usually what i did from shooting raw files.

last time when i am using 450D... the colors also look washed out (but i dun know about curves back then) when i shoot in raw.

if u have 50D now, u can shoot side by side the same thing, same metering, same lighting, color balance, same lens (at same focal length) and then do 1 to 1 comparison again.

Agree, i have had different zoon lens, but end up with 35mm(f1.4L), 50mm (f1.4)and 85mm (f1.8). 35mm is my general purpose lens. you will love it!

to my understanding, 35mm give a more human perspective of view, whereas 50L give better bokeh...but wonder any body keep both?

I have both, but to be honest, i love 35mm more, it stay on my camera most of the time.

Reporting in. Been with this forum for a few years now and finally decided to create an account.
Upgraded to 5DMKII abt a year ago.....Loving it since then

The 35mm focal length is the most natural perspective of a picture. it's just like how the human eye sees. and as far as usability of pictures is concerned, i think 35mm gives you more consistent output than any other picture.

amazing L lens and amazing body and amazing photographer = amazing pictures and quality

I just switched to 5D Mark II recently. Still a newbie photographer. Just want to find out from those who play with videos also. Is there a 60FPS video recording?
