I'm not buying their products. at all then. Hope and pray for them to go bust soon. Maybe its a good thing the anime scene go bankrupt here so we can go back to watching better quality fansubs without being hassled. Glad i stopped following anime.

(a) makes for sale or hire;
(b) sells or lets for hire, or by way of trade offers or exposes for sale or hire; or

any article which he knows, or ought reasonably to know, to be an infringing copy of the work shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $10,000 for the article or for each article in respect of which the offence was committed or $100,000, whichever is the lower, or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or to both.

in short... anyone who receive the letter SHOULD not pay and lawyers should know that this case is full of loopholes and this is one of them.

yea that's the way copyright law is written here. The problem is that the people targeted dunnoe that and never consult a lawyer. Hopefully tomorrow's gathering will change that.

Actually yesterday's papers already stated that Odex has the legal upperhand and they most likely will win any court case against downloads. However I am more concerned about what is considered an illegal download? Downloading their anime yes but what if I am downloading virtually unknown animes that they have no rights on?
i wonder how many people know that they are the legal distributor prior to this anyway :think:

That's why I'm supporting the HWZ people as this is a blank cheque exercise.
I've not even the slightest idea what is the most popular anime series.
It's like a David versus Goliath, on one hand you've a greedy company and the yound kids.
They'll need all the help from a good IP lawyer.
