I dont think the Tokina is available for sale anywhere in the world yet. The one i tried is actually a review unit for the dealers here in HK. Sorry didnt have any pics with me.

i think the tokina's not launched for sale here yet..

Distortion for tokina lens seems more than for the sigma or nikon, judging from the pics at the jap website. I wld still prefer to get the sigma, as wide-angled landscape pics shldn't show too much apparent barrel distortion, in my humble opinion.

Any updated on this wide angle lens? I am thinking of getting 1 for my upcoming trip to maldives!! :)

the latest update is as similiar to my previous update.

The lens will be available by Jan. So far no idea about the price.

CP is the sole distributor of Tokina lens in Singapore.

whats the price of a nikkor 12-24 now? still $1.6k?

Hope local shops will carry it soon. If the price is below $900, i will definitely get one.

anybody to start a MO for this tokina lens?

Based on most reviews, Sigma is not really recommended for Digital camera for several reasons.

Slow and bulky as compared with Nikon 12-24
Large bulbous head which means cannot use filter
USe of rear filter increase chances of dirt on CCD
Sharpness not as good as Nikon

Hence, the main reason people buy Sigma is more to use it for Conventional film camera as it can use at the 12mm end, whereby nikon can only use up to 18mm without vignetting...
