just a word of caution..

take note esp. when buying AF-S lenses.
it would be most advisable to reject AF-S lenses that produces 'creeky', 'squeaky' noises. these are signs that the AF-S motor is dying and the motor needs to be changed.

it'll cost quite a lot depending on lens model.

my AF-S17-35 is going to cost me more than S$700 to change the motor... S$400+ for the motor and around S$300+ for workmanship.

by the way, i'm not implying that the lens being sold at Prime is faulty.

the problem got progressively worse as the days go by.

sometimes can't even lock on focus, even more often lately! :(

i find it really $$. but no choice. the focusing issue is driving me dingdong. the screeching sound is very sickening now that it got worse.

it brought to mind... what if a VR lens and its VR motor died off, wonder how much that'll cost?

Did u ask the service center... (i mean)since u are there to repair yr 17-35..?
i only know the service for vr is 10% of the lens price.

that's the problem with the more technologically advanced equipment... the more there is to break down and the more expensive to repair.
