gee, i wonder what people are going to do with the DX lenses should there be any FF nikon dslr...
You obviously haven't been reading and keeping up. Go search for Watcher's thread on FF DSLRs and DX glass. If you're too lazy, think D2X with High speed crop mode.

yup, haven't been reading. but really, it's just a question that i'm asking aloud; for there have been quite a few specialist DX lens such as the 10.5mm FE that were sold...

As again: Think D2X and High speed crop mode. If D2X FF is a FF cam with high speed crop mode, would it solve the issue of DX glass?

same thing what canon users users with do EFS lenses when they switched to 5D or 1D series.

Time to sell it.

I love what this guy wrote in FM

The DX format is full frame. To date the only digital camera Nikon is producing that has the option to NOT to shoot full frame is the D2X. Do other manufactures provide this option? Whether they do or don't; I don't care.

The specs on my D70 says it's sensor is 3008 x 2000 and by golly when I open that file it's 3008 x 2000. What's missing? It didn't capture all of the image circle? Get over it. 35mm film doesn't capture the whole image circle either. What format does? The only similarity between the DX and 35mm film format is you can mount 35mm (non-DX) lens on a DX camera. A 24x36mm sensor still isn't going to get you 35mm film. It's digital! The ditigal image is measured in pixels, not in millimetres. The images produced are measured in pixels and do not have a physical size that you can measure with a ruler. When are people going to get this? Sheesh. Can you tell the difference looking at a picture? FF wannabees move to Canon and spare us all.

READ THIS FOLKS

This thread is fast becoming an all in brawl and flame war and it's going to get closed down unless certain posters start behaving likethe mature adults they are supposed to be.

I am a FF wannabe and i prefer to stick to Nikon and shoot my provia/velvia
Canon? No thanks - they don't make AF-S 17-35/2.8 the way i like it ;)

So where is this mass of threads going? It is becoming more of a product wants... However, I like the idea of cropping the sensor for DX lenses. But sounds a little absurd and such a flexible camera will definitely spoil the market... Meanwhile, just make do with what we have in the market.

Hey I thought that this thread is closed. How come it is back on again?

Yup. Happy for him.

he took the 5D's calling.. (fai dee! fai dee! fai dee mai lah!) :bsmilie:

With what I wrote, as ESPN quoted, you can continue to use your DX lenses; it will give you the same FOV on 35mm system as it can auto-crop. EF-S OTOH has to be thrown away or become door stop as you cannot mount it on the higher end body; Canon doesn't want to let the opportunity slip for them to earn more $ when you upgrade. Also, they are penalizing the 1.3x crop frame people (I had written that in the other flame-attracting thread).

If people's true intention is to shoot wide, the 1.3x series of pro cameras are the ones that are most left out by 1st party lenses (Sigma not applicable).

As for the "DX-is-FF", I try to avoid the term FF to mean the 24x36mm. What someone wrote on DPReview was the irony that the smallest of the popular format (ie exclude the failed APS, etc formats), is called "Full Frame".

Yep. Good riddence.

BTW, he was banned from DPReview. This shows what kind of poster he is.

No problem, Ian. In fact, I refuse to reply to his tauntings.

There is none so blind as he who will not wish to see.

You should read my oft-repeated, but seldom read thread.

Yes, but what I can shoot until an affordable 35mm DSLR cam comes out? Miss opportunities are never repeated. Maybe it is something to do with age...

Words of wisdom....

"Full frame is like sliced bread... some like it with the sides and corners torn off but others like it with the crust. Of course, bread with crust is bigger and more fulfilling then bread without crust...."

:bsmilie:

Anyway, just go have your roti eat it..... and if you think that crust with bread is not enough... go buy a murtabak!!!
;p

Very nicely put, but your 2nd statement just contradicts the first.

I agree with you, lets leave all these talking.

I couldn't understand why optics kept being brought into this discussion. Let fact presents itself. Just in case you thought I backed out from the shoot out after you presented your supporting claims. The offer to you is still on. A healthy 12-24 DX vs 24 compario. If you do not wish to put your lens on the line, its fine. Call it block head/skeptics.... I only believe in half of what I see and none of what I heard.

my goodness... this thread has no end huh....
