Just ask yourself lor, do you need 16 MP, do you need that many AF points. For me I'd go for the newer tech (and most of the D7000's specs won't lose to the D300s and it even beats it in some ways) but that's just me

Photokina is still a few days away, they may announce some more stuff, but unlikely.

What's your shoot objective? 39 Focus Points are a lot for a few professional photographers that I know. If you notice well, the D300S has more cross type sensors.

Do you really know what these numbers mean or do you just subscribe to "the more, the merrier" school of thought(or the lack of)?

Just saw the latest post on the rumour regarding Nikon Q. That looks really interesting... Could it be the EVIL everyone is waiting for?

The thing with some ppl is that they think the more the no of Mp the better the cam. Interesting to find out how is the ISO performance for this cam as the CMOS sensor sizer is still 23.6x15.6mm while the MP is now up to 16.2m hence pixel density up may not be a good thingy for Hi ISO performance but we shall see...

Yeap, it is true. Some ppl will think of the MP than any other spec else. That's why Sony can attract so many buyers/ users to buy their DSLR system. And for the same reason (in fact, there were chances), why Sony can't take over N & C position.

We are getting to see DSLR getting more and more heat up.

Same sensor size --> higher mega pixels --> increase the amount of Noise Reduction

Same sensor size --> higher mega pixels --> increase the amount of Noise Reduction ---> increase loss of details.

Bigger megapixel --> bigger storage card -->longer buffering time/ saving --> longer transfer time --> computer with higher spec --> longer processing time --> overall cost more time and money ---> worth it or not.

Bigger megapixel --> generates more noises --> more advanced and sophisticated algorithm --> more expensive --> less popular --> less buyer/users (in this case, an example is Canon G10 (14.7 Mp) --> G11 (10 Mp) )

It's a chain reaction. Another great example is Sony. Sony is actually a very promising brand in DSLR, however, they did the Mp thing a bit too early, that makes some users who know the Mp catch, withdrew.

wait .. i thought only high ISO will generate more noise? and bigger mp produce more refined output?

yup i know my stuffs dun worry :D i shoot wedding/events and sports events mostly thus the need for high fps man and need high iso for shooting malay weddings which most of the time takes place where the lighting really really suckss. mp wise, dun really care much just that kena sound by my clients about why i shoot with camera that has low mp zzz. and need the 51 focus points for the fast paced sports events that i shoot occasionally :)
