I am getting the D7000 and Nikkor AF-S 28-300 f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR

ehhh interesting find on wiki

High-end (Prosumer) - DX sensor

Nikon D100, 21 February 2002
Nikon D200, 1 November 2005
Nikon D300, 23 August 2007[34]
Nikon D300S, 30 July 2009[35]
Nikon D7000, 15 September 2010[36]

that means D7000 is not mid range cam??super upgrade of D90 0.0

Bigger megapixel --> bigger storage card -->longer buffering time/ saving --> longer transfer time --> computer with higher spec --> longer processing time --> overall cost more time and money ---> worth it or not.

Bigger megapixel --> generates more noises --> more advanced and sophisticated algorithm --> more expensive --> less popular --> less buyer/users (in this case, an example is Canon G10 (14.7 Mp) --> G11 (10 Mp) )

It's a chain reaction. Another great example is Sony. Sony is actually a very promising brand in DSLR, however, they did the Mp thing a bit too early, that makes some users who know the Mp catch, withdrew.

Happy for Nikon user to have D3s in their DSLR series, not joining the megapixel race but proud with better ISO quality.

I think you're thinking too much about it. It looks to me like they're just renumbering their series, so D40/60 series has become D3000 series, D70/80/90 series has become D7000 series, so they can manage the numbers better. Because if you +10 on 90, it become D100, so they can't do that.

If want to stick into 2 digit series..
After D90, become D90s, D90x, ..
Or become D95, D99, ..

Yeah that they can't do that.

this 200mm f/2 looks real good but how much will it cost is a question, will it be more ex than a 300mm f/2.8?

Anyone knows how much the D90 will cost now that the D7000 has been announced as its successor? I'm getting my first DSLR so i think i wont be going for the newer (and more expensive) ones.. just want a relatively good one to play around with first..

Waiting for an answer such as this will get you nowhere... Do the calling up yourself - you'll know which shop is the cheapest and whether they have it in stock (more importantly). The shops' numbers are all listed in Nikon Price List thread in the Price Guide forum on CS.

Edit: anyone can pop up an answer to your question, but can you guarantee that the price is the best in town, reputable shop or not, and whether there is ready stock?

i tried calling quite a few shops already like MS colour, Alan Photo, etc etc and emailed them ytd or the day before but all no reply yet.. just wanted to see if anyone here knows of the latest price. whether they have in stock right now is not impt to me cos its not like i need it today.. i just wanna see if its still worth it to get a 2nd hand one or brand new set

Have you called one at Lucky Plaza and small shop, top of Funan?

Previously I emailed them and looked like that they were too busy to reply the email.
Better directly call their number or come to the shop.
