OFFICIAL Nikon announcement on August 19th 2010: SLR !!

latter being always on body.
eye want to see. Lens also want to see.

ya ya ...totally agreed

so most important is picture shoot must be sharp, the rest can be adjusted in PP

wonder which has the better IQ: 70-300 or 28-300

Refer to result of 70-300 when shooting at 300 mm, don't shoot at 300 mm with biggest aperture loh, whenever using 70-300 or 28-300

;)

It's time to upgrade this trusty old lens .. AF NIKKOR

Nikon, please make our wish come true

just got this lens recently.
Prefer fixed tele as I use long end of 70 200 most of the time and prime will still give a contrastier, sharper image.
I think that lens is already quite a legend - based on the proven Sonnar design but improved in CA.
At most they can add is probably AF-S motor and nano coating, but I won't pay for the jump in price.

I hope that, for DX use, the AFS DX 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G will be better or equal to the 70-300 VR. DX users can save some $ ;p

That will hurt the sale of 70-300

which taste better ? char kway tiao or hokkien mee ?

Are you eating becos you are hungry or are you eating because you see someone eating and want some too?

AF-S DX 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G is a DX lens, that will not hurt the sale of 70-300 which is a FX lens.

But the AF-S NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR will definitely hurt the sale of 70-300.

I think 70-300 will be replaced soon, by the AF-S NIKKOR 80-400mm f4.5 - f5.6G ED VR2 perharps? :think::lovegrin:

I doubt that... the latter is a cheaper option afterall. Secondly, distortions on the 28-300 might be similar to DX's 18-200mm (won't know until reviews have been done). Too early to say now, that's for sure...

The distortion of 28-300 at 28mm should be similar with 24-70mm f/2.8 at 24mm, I think.
Agree that it's too early to know. Nobody has tested this lens yet.

I don't think AF-S 200 f/2.8 in will be released this year, as according to the gossip that this September Nikon will announce AF-S 200mm f/2 VR2. The f/2 is still bulky and heavy.

So superb so you might not see anymore the man holding the bird behind, due to superb bokeh (refer to your avatar picture).
LOL

I also predict the new AF-S 200 f/2 VR2 would be around 6-7 K.
The good news, it's still cheaper than AF-S 200-400 f/4 VR2 ;)

any soothsayer here wanna estimate the prices of 28-300 and 55-300?;p
