Nikon D70 verticle Grip

Did nikon mention anything abt the D70 grip? as in they not gonna produce it to make a diff from D100? or they r just delaying? hmmm

Nikon definitely will not make a v. grip for the D70, they have D100 replacement to concentrate on.

don't really understand...they could hv made big bucks by satisfying this hunger of the D70 users, which i think, make up quite a substantial number. Cost of production would not be high and profit margin would be good.
Even short term sale would also make money man, looking at the eagerness of the users to pay high price [even 3rd party one] for it. :dunno: :dunno:

i think their marketing gurus probably see it as product differenciation. between the D70 and the next level.

also, the other thing is of course to make D70 users upgrade.

Nikon have their own strategy in marketing and R&D. Though they might be able to sell good the D70 grip, but that would crash the sale of their D100 replacement. They want to make the two models more obvious difference...in accessories as well.

ya, man, this SOUNDS more logical to me too. Why use a grip to differentiate?? This tactic SOUNDS low lah, not to mention that it would "anger" nikon faithful like me who help jack up their D70 sale. Should give some reward man, such as something as minor [in terms of cost of production and design effort] as a grip. Those nikon bosses are really old, if they really depend on such "Cheap" strategy for differentiation.

....and if the sale of the D100 replacement could be so easily got crashed by a simple grip....I would suggest that one REPLACE it with a D70

Yes indeed, the D70 vertical/battery grip is in development!

Harbortronics VG-D70 Features:

o Remote shutter release via IR (removable fiber optic cable) or hardwired (camera modification).

No camera modification needed to use the IR shutter release feature. This essentially emulates the ML-L1/3. The camera has to be configured to using the IR remote, and used often enough to keep the camera from turning the IR remote feature off. The half-press feature will also not work normally via IR. A removable fiber optic cable will route up the front of the camera to the grip... very simple, cable stays out of the way, and can be removed if desired.

o Remote shutter jack included on grip

This jack can be used with remote cords, slaving cameras together (i.e. stereo), or for connection to a D70 which has been modified with a remote shutter release jack.

If the camera is modified to add a remote control jack (which may void the warrenty), then all limitations are removed... there's no need to set-up the camera for remote use, half-press works fine, etc. There would be a short cable jumper running from the camera to the grip to connect the two.

o Multiple Power Configurations

The VG-D70 can accomodate one or two EN-EL3 batteries (standard D70 battery). The grip also includes a standard DC power jack (industry standard!) for use with external power supplies, large battery packs, etc. This jack is protected against reverse polarity and overvoltage.
