hmm... wonder Photokina would introduce a 70-300 f4 or not?:bsmilie:
Hello CSers!
I just got this lens yesterday, tested some stills outside my place using normal vr, and the images were tact sharp from 70mm to 300. The detail resolved is quite surprising wide open.
Today, I went on a bus safari, so since I was in the bus, I engaged the Active mode of the VR.
Unfortunately, all my pictures on the came back with a slight blurnessLooks like I can't print these large sigh. Should be fine for web use.
Did not take any shots on the bus with the mode set to Normal, so can't say. I did take a few shots off the bus set to normal vr; as expected they were awesomely sharp. Any ideas or recommendations when to use the active VR?
NB: My usual technique for shooting with longer tele (cough my 55-200) is usually to set my shutter to about 1/250 and let the exposure be varied by iso and aperture. Today, since I was shooting mostly at 300mm, I used a shutter between 250-500 on the bus; all were slightly blurred. GAH.

PS: I got this in Adelaide, AU for AUD725 from Photographic Wholesalers. After gst rebate should be about AUD 660.
no, aperture will be f22, G lenses the aperture lever is just held up during focussing, but when shooting the aperture releases to f22.I have a burning question to be answered:
Is it possible to use the 70-300vr on a manual film camera (eg. FE2)? I know the aperture cannot be adjusted but the metering still works. But will the aperture be at the max?
