70-300 VR is a very nice lens. I didn't like it initially when I started using it. As I use more and more, I like it more and more.

Nice and fast AF lens!;p

the AF is decently fast, i like it except that.... it feels a little longish.. handheld

Can anyone post some night shots?

thanks...

some samples:

WOW!! so sharp?

actually I'm also want to buy this lens...either 18-200VR or 70-300VR.
But I heard in D300, 18-200VR doesn't produce a sharp picture... Is it true?

If correct - better buy 70-300 then...:D

Only problem is that me skill still far from generating shots like this !! Thanks to all for the shots !

:-)

I took the lens to the snowy mountain. Harsh condition. minus celcius and snowing/blizzard :)

ortega; [or others] how would you compare this to Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro?
the 70-300mm VR focuses faster than the sigma, and resolves better on the long end. CA is slightly better than the sigma, color sensitivity better too.

at almost twice the price.. what do you think? :P

I've owned a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro before I bought Nikon 70-300 VR. If you are talking about sharpness Nikon definitely win, but depending on your bugdet cos Nikon cost 2x more than Sigma.

glay78
