I have the D300 with this lens. How high an ISO you want me to try?
hmmmm maybe can try around ISO1600 there about when you free.. just want to find out how's the result........ thank you... :lovegrin::thumbsup:
Anyway the reason for this is.....I was thinking, for serious hobbyist like us, it really does not justify to spend 5 figures sum to get the range of fast lens (from wide to tele), when we don't shoot for a living nor often enough to justify the hefty $$$$ involved.
Simply put, we do want good, sharp oputput, but not at $$$$ that is beyond us.....
Thus checking if D300 couple with the likes of 70-300VR, how's the performance like...... is it able to achieve 80 to 90% of the fast lens............ :dunno::sweat:

just bought this lens together with D300.
As I read before, this lens is more superior than 18-200. The result is really sharp.

Here's a shot at ISO 6400 taken with this lens... though it was more a reflection on the camera than on the lens that it was possible.
1/80s f/5.3 at 200.0mm ISO 6400
HK ? It's quite affordable there. I got mine for like <S$700..... but it's a grey set though so I gotta go back to the shop ..............

Why envy? At <$800, this is a very affordable lens compared to the 70-200mm f/2.8. What's more, it's on promotion at the moment... buyers can redeem a Camus Coffee Set and a Lenspen Klear at Nikon showroom. Buy, Buy, Buy !
ya lor.... maybe some find the 70-200 better and sharper but at a premium price that not many can afford or see the need to.... the 70-300 still not too bad lar.... even next time upgrade, also won't lugi so much... :devil:
True for now, not when I bot it. Searched high and low, and best deal was $900....
Mine then was low $600s. Willing to trade the warranty for 30% off.... so far, the risk paid off... Ha....
Getting frens to check out the prices of other lens today as well. Another bunch gg HK. Just wonder why the lens here in Singapore is generally more expensive than HK and even US..... of cos, factor in shipping, then might as well buy here......
For the price difference, it could be worth the trip if one happen to be there for holiday or work.
Here's the guide. Go to Nikon folder and look for the price guide. This is a folder where members post the price of the equipment they found at the local shops.
Goto nikon lenses and look for the lens you want.
Next for the HKG shops you want, go do a search. It has been discussed many times liao...
