this is the end of the beginning... but hardly the beginning of the end.
Yup... another flower using the AF80-200 f/2.8D ED...

sykestang, seems like the focus is on the flower in the background, further from the camera. was that intentional?

the dark background doesn't seem to speak much for the lens, i'm sorry to say.

Nope... not intentional as much as I hope it was. In fact I was trying to focus on the ant running in and out from the core of the bigger front flower :embrass: (not sure whether you guys can make out the ant)... Maybe in this regards, the 70-200VR may perform better ;p

Anyway I will be doing a series of CHIJMES soon with my 80-200... Hope that would really bring out the beauty of the 80-200.... So do watch out for it. ;p

um... seems like grossly out of focus leh. doing macro shot using the lens? maybe you want to check your diopter setting first. that's the only thing i paranoid about my camera...

Sometimes i get dissapoint because lots of my picture is blur :(

its very hard to take picture with handheld even this lens is at F2.8

thinking of upgrade to 70-200vr

resist that thought first. learn to maximize the lens first. one friend of mine, did tell me he used to shoot 200mm, handheld for 1/10second. last time no VR/IS, how to shoot otherwise?

waaa u all not sianz carry such a heavy lense ar? The 70-200mm VR looks super cool but after carry around for 20 mins, me sianz liow.  I still like the weight of the 75-300mm, not too heavy and not too light. Maybe I getting old liow.

How long u can all carry the lens + your setup around (2 kg? 3kg?) without any tripod? 1-2 hrs?

More than that... used to use this lens for outdoor model shoot abt 3-4hrs and still can get good pics. My setup: D100+MBD100+2xEN-EL3+SB800+AF80-200 f/2.8D...

hmmm... 5kg I think...

Practice makes perfect. Yes it is heavy, but if you want quality, that's the price to pay.

You should shelved this idea...

Blur pics is because due to the way you hold your camera sometimes.... More practice would be good.

Lets meet up for some shooting someday.... maybe this coming Wed? Wanna shoot CHIJMES? Only with 80-200 alone? ;p

So sorry that the pic don't work for you as well as readers here. Yup, macro shooting with this lens is a little difficult. I get almost 50% blur pics, ie 1st shot clear, 2nd shots blur... not sure whether with a tube extender will help.... Believe VR would be a great help in situation like this. Think would have to practice more, else gotta spent additional $$$ for VR...

Hey GAdrian, any comments on tube extender with 80-200 or 70-200VR? Also BTW do ppl really use this lens to do macro, cos recently, seems like we have been trying to shoot leaves and flowers etc, to show the capabilities of the individual lens....

For me, I don't shoot macro and don't think I like it also cos it spend too much time to take a single good shot. :sweatsm: Still prefer my 'beautiful' portraiture photography... ;)
