So sorry that the pic don't work for you as well as readers here. Yup, macro shooting with this lens is a little difficult. I get almost 50% blur pics, ie 1st shot clear, 2nd shots blur... not sure whether with a tube extender will help.... Believe VR would be a great help in situation like this. Think would have to practice more, else gotta spent additional $$$ for VR...

Hey GAdrian, any comments on tube extender with 80-200 or 70-200VR? Also BTW do ppl really use this lens to do macro, cos recently, seems like we have been trying to shoot leaves and flowers etc, to show the capabilities of the individual lens....

For me, I don't shoot macro and don't think I like it also cos it spend too much time to take a single good shot. :sweatsm: Still prefer my 'beautiful' portraiture photography... ;)

yes.. pple do shoot macro with this range of lenses.. i had used my af80-200, afs, afs-vr to do macro.. the famous insect king in CS also uses this range, but its in white.. (for those ignorants, he's none other than Megaweb wif this 70-200 IS + ext tube or 500D.. :P) this range when coupled with a closeup filter or ext tube, provides a better range than a macro lens.. 1:1 is also possible..
when i had the af80-200, fitted with 25mm extension tube, i dun have any problem shooting macro with it, with or without tripod.. in fact, most of my macro shots r handheld at 1/125 f8-16 cos i find tripod troublesome in tiny spaces..

sykestang, seems like the focus is on the flower in the background, further from the camera. was that intentional?

the dark background doesn't seem to speak much for the lens, i'm sorry to say.

how does the background speak for the lens? please explain. :dunno:

You should shelved this idea...

Blur pics is because due to the way you hold your camera sometimes.... More practice would be good.

Lets meet up for some shooting someday.... maybe this coming Wed? Wanna shoot CHIJMES? Only with 80-200 alone? ;p

Ok ok sure :D :D

When I go for an outdoot shoot.. my stand gear is not limited to the 70-200.. but I will carry D100+MB-D100, 2 x SB800, 2 x SC17, SU7, 70-200, 17-35, 24-120, 50mm, 20mm, spare batteries x 2 (EN-EL3), spare batts for the flash, my Lee Filters, an FM2+28mm f2.. and not to mention my tripod.. hmm.. Takes practice.. then again.. guess I have gotten used to it.. oh.. not to mention.. my water bottle.. and towel.. hehe.. I think once you have gotten used to it.. you will also make sure you get great pictures.. coz you dont want to continue to lug this things around too often.. hehe..

Yup... another flower using the AF80-200 f/2.8D ED...

image0004.jpg

Hmm I detect hints of image sharpening along the edges of the leaf.. and flower..

Also.. this image is not a good example of bokeh for this lens.. coz the background is rather rough and hewn..

Sehsuan I agree with you.. the dark background doesnt say much for this lens..

Yes I use this lens to do macro stuff too.. with an extender.. this is quite common.. coz it is cheaper then getting a 200mm macro lens.. that cost about 1.8K..

wat u waiting for??

we were there for the shootout.. but the 80-200 didnt show up until rather late.. (due to unforseen circumstances).. so we will arrange for another one.. soon..

perhaps.. will not wait for tang.. will just borrow someone's 80-200 and do a side by side.. then we can just do it..

if no one available, we will use beachboy's 80-200.. if he will allow me.. hehe..
