I see. Thanks for the tips. yea, i notice that in general, the night scenes have a more natural and very nice colours to it. does pics like 27 april 07, 5 may 07 and 19 april require more editing than the rest?

13 july 07 is really nice.

so normally you'll go with your tripod and... any other stuff that u normally bring along?

07 pics . very rich colours.

ahhh. ok, just quote for reference:

for 27 apr 07/05 may 07 was still relatively new to photography, to be honest now when i look at it the color has been oversaturated and overcontrasted. i cannot really remember my work flow, but i'm pretty sure i did quite a number on the contrast sliders/saturation sliders/gamma lowering.. heh.

19 apr 07 was one of the first hdrs i tried on my first dslr. there is a lot of processing here, and i personally think it's overcooked. :bsmilie:

wah, i like the silky effect of the water flow. :) nice control of exposure there, having such silky effects yet the lights didn't over exposed by too much.

Just curious - what is your setting for this pic? Any filters? Wanna roughly know how you take this pic cos I'm a bozo in landscape/night/low-light photography. :) oh, the pic's nice too!

thanks arcanic.

eelnosaj - iso 100, f/8, 30 seconds. no filters required as the merlion was still lit up. this was just before sunrise, and i was lucky that the water started flowing. i estimate around 0645-0650 hours, to be sure have to look at exif - it's still embedded.. :)

just set up tripod, compose, and shoot, i guess.. :) my camera's metering got confused by this scene, but most night shot/low light long exposures will tend to confuse any system's metering. :)

thanks for the info! hmmm. one day must try wake up super early and do some nightshots. do you need a remote for this? or just press the shutter button for 30sec?

great pic. the surrounding of the rock is water or is it steam from some geyser? my guess is water but super long exposure.
hi dingzyangz - it is water, 30 second exposure. i think it is still not long enough, maybe 1 minute or 2 will smooth out the water better. :)

hey bro, all the photos here don't need remote. but when tripping shutter, i usually give a 2 second timer delay to minimise vibrations from when you press the release button. the maximum exposure time of most prosumers and dslr is 30 seconds. longer than that, need bulb mode. usually people use this thing called a shutter release, rather than remote.. simply because it is probably not fun to hold the remote button for as long as 30 minutes, or 5 hours (when it comes to star trails and the like).

nevertheless... still very dreamy. well done. :)
