Really nice series of pics. You make really good use of the wide angle. Wonder if I could get some advice from you on whether the Tokina's 11-16 is sufficient zoom or whether i really need a wider zoom from a 10-20mm? Also for post processing what do you use?

not sure, but seriously, why would you want the f/2.8?

i use at the most photomatix and photoshop. :) thanks.

hehe, i used daytime fluorescent wb.. usually gives such tones at sunset. not advisable when the sun is in the picture though.. :)

this one's a hdr btw, 3 exposures.

btw, can i check smthg with you?

when is HDR best used?

I tried this morning but like not much diff leh... sad..

you still have to choose your "preferred" exposure before you activate your bracketing right?

Alot to learn man... :sweat::sweatsm:

no problem -

i don't use bracketing to shoot hdr, i use manual mode and decide what to shoot, for golden hours usually is quite standard, from +3 to -3, 1 stop in between, i.e. -3, -2, -1, 0, +1, +2, +3.. assuming that the camera metering is accurate. if it is off (usually you will get more consistency with centre weighted metering rather than evaluative).. then redo. this is not to say that you just blindly pump it into whatever hdr program you have later on - if you have the amount of detail you need, then you can dump the shots that are not required (usually at the ends). and not every scene will give you good results with photomatix (the prog i use).. so sometimes if i think it is worth it, do manual blending in photoshop using 2 to 3 different shots.. but very ley chey.

a lot of people will disagree with me, but i do think that hdr should be used to create pictures that are closer to what we see - the eye has an extremely tolerant and wide dynamic range , in particular for shadow detail. if you look briefly at the sun when it is out (not for too long, please) you will realise that there is a lot more shadow detail than typical silhouettes (which is why i tend to steer clear of them). of course there are always differing opinions, and some will tell you that hdr should be used to give you extreme detail, and used liberally for the effect. :dunno:

for daytime shots, the dynamic range is much, much narrower compared to sunset/sunrise timings, at least for wide scenes. imagine the time when the sun has dipped below the horizon but is still giving you colors in the sky. the sky is probably slightly darker than usual, but your foreground is going to be so much darker. :) so when you refer to morning, when the sun has already risen for sometime and not in your frame, and your subject is lying OPPOSITE to the sun, then i don't erally think that hdr is going to do much, since the scene has already very limited dynamic range.
