Went to CP Marina this afternoon. Saw a Canon Mount Tokina 11-16mm there.

just a question -

did you post process the shots here or are they out of camera?

All photos set to AF at infinity, try to test out how the AF speed. Did not adjust any +EV. I play with Aperture priority and set ISO 100, the rest control by camera.

hi zola.

may i ask did u use AF or MF at infinity? is the speed the cam metered speed or u +EV?

Nice shots bro. Awesome:thumbsup:

Hey bros, nice shot mann...:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Make me want to buy this lens liao...guess I'm infected by the BBB virus.:sweatsm:

You are right. By the way, I heard even in FX mode, you should be able to use this lens 15mm onwards without vignette. Since you have a D700, can test it out?

Just to clarify, this is not a fisheye lens, it's an ultra wide lens and can be use either on FF or non-FF camera body. Well if you're owning a FF body such as D700, you can switch it to DX. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You can find out more at Ken Rockwell's review :

Yes, I agree. If you've a FX mode you still able to use the lens at 15mm onwards. Sorry, I don't own a D700, if I've I would have test it with D700 instead of D200. D700 is my dream now & very impress by the ISO 6400 image. Hope to own one when the price drop. :)

Hey man,

Love your shots. Darn cool. Well done !

Can you tell me where and how $$ u got this for ? Was looking at UWA but undecided between the following ....

1. Tokina 11-16mm
2. Tokina 12-24mm
3. Sigma 10-20mm
4. Sigma 12-24mm
5. Nikon 12-24mm : Too ex I think....
6. Nikon 14-24mm : Even more ex.....

Would love to hear your opinion on the lenses and why u picked the 11-16mm...... BBB virus coming....

Hi,

Thank you for viewing. Try to PM you the price I got for this lens but you PM inbox is full.

OK, why I pick on this UWA lens apart from all others as you've stated in the list. One reason is to complete my focal range from 11-300mm. If you notice my signature below, my lenses collection range from Tokina 11-16mm continue with my Nikon 16-85mm and lastly Sigma 70-300mm. Secondly it's a f/2.8 lens unlike the others that starts from f/4 or f/4.5. At a max. aperture of f/2.8 it's more versatile, you can shoot landscape/street photography in the night.

In the earlier stage I wanted to get either the Sigma 10-20 or the Tokina 12-24 but then because of the max. aperture at f/4 I forgo with it. So at last they've something what I want.

I guess the market price for Sigma 10-20 & Tokina 12-24 should be quite close to the Tokina 11-16. Anyway the choice is yours. :)
