[News] Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1

I was warned and now I believed what those reviews say about GM1. There were times I accidently touched the screen and my picture was out of focus as the focus point shifted to the extreme right of the screen... ha ha... need to learn more on how to hold the camera in the right way...

I believe you can turn off touch focus. So you don't have that problem with accidentally changing the focus point. On my g2/ gf3/gh2/3 it can be done so I assume this feature is there on the GM1 too.

Yes it can be switched off. But I use that function very often.

Thanks for the tips of where to get it and current prices.

No one intending to sell the kit lens?

There was one in B n S a few days ago :) be patient.

Thought that was the best combo for GM1, why sell it?

Isnt it LPPL for GM1 small body to mount big lens?

The kit lens is so good that i hardly feel the need to use my 14 and 20mm.

Review of new 12-32mm kit lens by SLRGEAR.

Conclusion:
The new Panasonic 12-32mm ƒ/3.5-5.6 ASPH MEGA O.I.S. Lumix G Vario lens is a stellar companion to the tiny GM1. It produces excellent, sharp photos at all focal lengths, even wide open, and has minimal distortion, vignetting and chromatic aberration. And while the lack of a dedicated focus ring is a little disappointing, as manual focusing using the touch screen is a little slow and awkward, overall there's not much to complain about with this lens. The Panasonic 12-32mm is the perfect match for the powerful and pocketable GM1 thanks to stellar optics and a super-lightweight, ultra-compact design.

Olympus will be releasing a pancake 14-42 that is more compact than the 12-32

Without OIS if u used it on any panny body except gx7 (which dun need compact zoom since its already not small cam).

Gariz case for GM1

Wonder whats the damage for the gariz..

hmm..it's good to have but if the price is like ebay 126 sgd, then its about 15% of the camera price for a 850sgd camera...wheres for a 1600sgd camera, any gariz case at 126 would be only about 7% camera price...so i may give it a pass tho i like it...

Bit the bullet and got it, but its over priced for something so small :p But i guess Gariz prices their cases at this price range -_-

I couldn't get used to the panasonic one as i have to keep on getting it on and off whenever i need to get the SD card and batt out.

$126 is not very expensive for a well-made leather case. However, I will stick to my Panasonic case till it is worn out. Getting it on and off is not a big issue for me as I don't change the battery or the SD card often...
