Newbies Outing (part 11) - June 26 Saturday, Helix Bridge Sunrise

Bro no one comment means nice mah! ;) Exposure and all very nice!
Very nice la. But only thing I see is that a little more room above the MBS would be nicer.

Waaaa... ZCA.. we can retire already. :bsmilie: We are running out of newbies...

yeah!!! retire...! Then I can join other people's outings as .... independent shooter...? Just hide one corner and smile... hahaha.

You wan then take early, coz Fri I leave for KL already won't be back for a week. I don't really need to shoot LE one, so you can use for 3 weeks.

Wah... such a good deal... so tempting
too bad I have no ND400 to offer as trade... hehehehehehe...

hehehe... I noticed that the foreground kept getting into the pic, and I saw Chillicrab1 leaning the tripod against the railing, which was a bit unstable not to mention risky too. Then I noticed that the railing had a concrete base, so configured the tripod legs such that 2 were on the concrete base and 1 was on the floor. Thus could get a few inches closer to the railing, making it easier to exclude the foreground.

Swee lar.. i will do the same as well next time.. *but wait i go buy insurance for my gear first:sweat:*

hahaha not so dangerous la... neither camera nor tripod went beyond the boundary of the railing

I still cannot visualize how it was done...

Tripod normally stand on three legs. Two legs put near railing... push the camera forward, means one leg (behind one) is off the ground, and rest the tripod against the railing. Camera normally over the rails liao. Err... not very dangerous wad. Been there... done that :bsmilie:

check out my crappy illustration!!! hahahahaha

Eh, thanks but I think very very different (his is so much smoother, while mine is like big bulldozer).

What I did was HDR two images to get the grass area and bridge area. The sky was too bright and lost a lot of details after HDR, especially since I was trying to put the emphasis on the two aircraft warning lights on the Flyer, so...

I blended in an original photo which had a darker sky (I figure the ground could still be bright because it is lit up by artificial lights) - had to do this three times before was satisfied coz
1st attempt - halo from making the bright parts too near the sky (for trees)
2nd attempt - dark shadows surrounding tree from doing the opposite of above (for sky)
3rd attempt - used a smaller brush :p

Added one more layer with almost full saturation, but only applied to the aircraft warning lights area on the Flyer. Other things I did with the Flyer includes overlaying a High Pass Filter (1 pixel) on it selectively, so that the lines on it is more prominent.

Initially I chose the darker sky pic but didn't come out so nice, so I replaced it with a lighter sky. This is the darker sky pic.

Never too late man..

Gd work..pic 1 but looks a little underexposed to me, can boost up the vibrancy of the sky as well .. and i thk its cropped a little too tight.. Try placing ur MBS somewhere along the intersection points of the 3rds (preferably on the left) will render a more balanced pleasing pic...

Hope to see ya soon :)

Thank you...NNB, ok i take note on that, thanks.

More pictures coming up, pic taken using my friend's 70-200 lens that day, but cannot download to flicker, they say 1 month only can download 100MB. so wait till tomor...

100MB is a lot leh... what size are you uploading to Flickr?
If it's a 1500x1000 JPG, it should not be more than 700kB, so you can upload easily 150 images.

Not sure, my 1 photo is about 7MB, still very new in flickr so not sure how to reduce the photo size?? and convert into smaller size (1500X1000JPG)
