help me get one? (:

Sorry lar, my mistake...f2.8...ARRRGGGHHHH...

just to check is 35 f1.8 "fast" enough to shoot kids indoors without flash?

I really want to help you, but I'm truly unqualified to advise...

But I can tell you this, with my kit lens 15-85mm, I usually set to Shutter P when I'm indoors & just fire away...so far, so good...can freeze the image...but then again, I dunno want terror quality you are expecting, so you must try try...:bsmilie:

Hmm.... I must say, Mr Chow Yun Fatt's newbie welcome thread must be one of the longer (if not the longest) newbie welcome threads in CS.
Well, the next Mr Chow's thread may just be the $2million block buster, breaking even Avatar's record.

Oeii Hello, you dun come here & let go story...:bsmilie:

Oeii Lau Chiao...I got a question...I got this Aperture 2 on my Mac, but to down load just a 100 pictures is like taking forever, more than 1 hr...am I doing something wrong?

Sorry hor, another newbie question...;p

Oeii Hello, you dun come here & let go story...:bsmilie:

Haha... never let go story lah. I'm one of the most friendly people around!;)
In fact, as you have noticed earlier, I welcomed you warmly into the forum already mah...
With your nick, maybe you might just as well upload Chow YF's most gung-ho photo as your Avatar once you have fulfilled the required number of posts to qualify for customised Avatar.
And then, just keep going online to CS every night and don't disappear lah. :bsmilie:
Welcome, welcome again!

Haha...
Sounds like you must be shooting RAW. It would be around 15-16Mb per picture (with 7D).
A fast CF card with a good card reader would certainly download faster.
My personal experience is: if I download say, 260 RAW (19-20Mb with 5DMkII) photos directly from camera to laptop, it would take me about 15-20 minutes (an estimate).

Downloading from external hard disk plus converting to DNG (if you have enabled that) would certainly make it slower.

EDIT: Sorry, I missed out your post on the jPEg part. Yah, if it's just Jpeg, then 1 hour is certainly very slow. Something to do with your external hard-disk or your computer? I find 1 hour quite a long time... strange.

No problem.
For a self-proclaimed newbie, I must say your gears and softwares are no where near newbie category.
7D + 35 f/1.8 + 70-200 f/2.8L + Aperture... quite a bit of spending there.
Can't blame your wife for making a little bit of fuss.

What?!...Now you taking her side?!...Basket...You WOMEN are all the same...:bsmilie:

Its actually worse...its a 85mm f1.2, not a 35mm...the distance of the 85mm is perfect protection for the Lens from my kid's itchy hands...:bsmilie:

Good night Sifu...

不敢当,不敢当。
Good night.

Good night.

Oeii SiFu, if I'm going to chase my kids around to take pictures of them, what is a good & reliable Flash to use on my 7D....;)

What is the advantage I will get against my Pop-Up with Diffuser?

Should I just Stick to my Pop-Up?

Gam Xia.

You've got real expensive pro gear for a newbie! :)

I find it hard to believe that you are not the real Chow Yun Fatt! :D

For you, seriously consider the 580ExII.
Very fast recharge time.
Powerful.
Advantage is, an external flash is always one up against the built-in Pop up flashes because of their power, and the ability to trigger them off shoe.

Pop up flash will give you that "in-the-face" glaring look. Not so pleasing lah.
My humble opinion.

I understand where you'er coming from, but what abt Ring Flashs, any comments?
Are they easier to use since they don't cast as much shadow?
