newbie getting a K-R !

you're buying the camera, not working in the office.

but you can feedback to emjay that they need better working conditions for their staff, if you feel strongly about that point.

anyways, girls are so funny.... :sweatsm: thankfully my one not like that, talk to her about up/downgrading to k-r, her reply is BBBBBBBB :bsmilie:

:bsmilie::bsmilie: :thumbsup:

J3:16? lol, definitely not a meritocratic shop. :bsmilie:

J3:16 is pro nikon if i nt wrong.
If only can get from Funan I think your option is either SLR Re or Alan Photo.
For SLR Rev maybe you can call them up and look for Ray.

Called a few times looking for him to ask prices, sounds like a decent friendly chap...

haha...my GF super not interested when i bring her to Emjay in the evening....cant blame her, the office is really really super run down!!!

But i do think the KR is better than D3100...

I am paying for the camera so she dun really have a say.... :-p

haha..so that cost wun be too high for them and they can pass on the savings to us ;)

GUYS PLEASE HELP!

just went to check ard in Funan...

D3100 is selling at 835 at challenger with 1 8G card. Same for SLR Rev....john was selling at 850

Wanted to take a look at KR but unfortunately SLR Rev said its not available for me to take a look. God damn it, that salesman has a freaking attitude...as if i owe him money. quoted me 960 for normal kit and 1090 for 50-200mm kit. Told me the 3rd option is not available. My blood was boiling with his freaking attitude.

In the end i have to cross over to Emjay to take a look at the camera....honestly it looks great! Better than D3100.

Haha..unfortunately....i have 1000 dollars worth of Capitaland vocuhers given by company...so LL must buy in Funan!!

So guys....please advise...where to buy KR in funan now....paiseh...must be in Funan else cannot use the vouchers!

Hey TS,

I'm also considering the D3100 and K-r due to their prices. So.. looks like you prefer the K-r? Is it heavy to lug around in the bag? Cos I want something that I won't find too heavy for bringing out with me all the time.

I was thinking of heading to SLR R to feel the K-r but now that you mentioned that the salesman has attitude prob (do you have his name?) and that they didn't have a display set to play with.. I feel quite  about going down now.

I need a salesperson who can have a discussion with me, providing advice since it's my first DSLR..

Why the price difference compared to the prices on FB?

dude, hate to be blunt, but get real. these are salesmen, not counselors. the onus is on you to research and know what you want FIRST and not go bore them with your indecision. if they must decide for you, they will choose the one that gives them the best profit margins.

if you don't know what u want, u may just get an unsure, non-committal response cos they don't know how to answer you, or worse, in the more unscrupulous shops, they may try to carrot chop you.

my advice: research specs, go shop and touch touch (cannot take pictures though cos of shutter count), check price, buy what u need (camera, sd card, bag), pay, and leave.

if u need other things, can go back and slowly look again. there had been a lot of horror stories of pple over-paying for filters already so if unsure, don't buy first.

True that, it's all about $. Deluded me still expect service behind sales. Guess nowadays it's getting more rare. I have been doing my research and am still doing. There's alot more to research on, I've been comparing this and that and it's never-ending.

Of course I don't expect him to select a model for me and going in without any knowledge. I just want someone who is able to discuss my questions (I am someone who ask alot of questions) instead of giving me (bo-chup) attitude when I intend to make a purchase.

Not sure about you, but if someone gives me attitude I would rather take my business somewhere else than with him.

My preferred approach is more to the other extreme.

The blunt fact is that they are salesmen, not pro photographers or equipment reviewer. They won't know the answer to all your questions.

By the time I go to the shop, I am already more or less decided. Just need to make sure the price is within tolerable range. I just want the best price, a smiling face and for the item to be in stock. If its lens, I bring my camera to test first.

No point going to the shop to ask. Unlikely to get the answers you want.

The K-r is the same size as K-x. So if you just want to feel the size, you can try k-x.

Last wk, there was a K-r set at Alan photo, so you can play with those.

I find the K-r a nice size and weight to be. Big enough to hold comfortably and steady, yet small enough for traveling.

I would be careful of discussing stuff with the salesman though, unless you know him very well and is known to be reputable. They will try to push the cameras that have the highest margin for them, so beware.

Join us at the outing this Friday. I'm sure that there will be lots of K-r, K-x for you to try and get a feel. You'll also probably be able to get much better answers on the K-r at the outing than from any salesperson.

Buy the K-r at emjay then use the 1000 to buy something else at funan .

U sure got a lot of thing to buy after you start yr 1st DSLR :P

I totally agree with you! TS can use the $1000 Capitaland vouchers to grab a nice FA/DA Limited lens after you buy the KR. Or can also get the popular Tamron 17-50 and still got left-over vouchers.

You only go to John 3:16 if u want to buy a Nikon or Canon. Other brands they not so supportive one. They are especially anti-Pentax/Sony.

 $1000 can probably can get the Tamron 17-50, a nice bag and a good filter to protect the 17-50. will probably have money left over to get a blower and lens pen as well ;)

When SLR-R was located opposite John 3:16, the shop was small and they only had a few staff. They are good to deal with. Pretty straight forward, no nonsense. But I noticed that now they have moved to the bigger shop, they have more staff. Maybe now they have a couple of "undesirables". Best to ask for Ray as he has proven to be good to deal with.

BTW, I recommend trying Orient Photo (#06-53 Sim Lim Square). Ask for Stanley. They had 2 Kr in stock last Sunday but I don't know what colour or configuration.

Good Luck with your purchase decision. Don't let LOVE (for your GF), that most illogical emotion, get in the way
