Sorry I mean The Camera Workshop
However, I notice that when the VC is on, sometimes when the shutter is pressed halfway, there is a slight jerk of the image thru the viewfinder. Anyone with this lens experience this?
Btw, I got it at Orient Photo at 900
I took my Tamron 18-270mm replacement lens to Beijing (attached to my Nikon D300) for a spin a few days ago.
The outside temperature was a freezing -10°C! But the Tamron lens seemed to work perfectly this time.
The autofocus worked flawlessly throughout the entire zoom range, as long as aperture was F5.6 or bigger.
Surprisingly, in good lighting conditions, it also autofocused well at F6.3! But when in dim lights, it hunts.
In my humble opinion, this is a great walk-about lens, definitely better than the Nikon 10-200mm AFS DX VR lens, Tamron 18-270mm's VC works a lot better than Nikon's 18-200mm VR. Photo image is sharpest when shot using F.3 to F8.0.
Attached are some photos I took.

Hi!
The 18-270mm lens has serious barrel distortion at 18mm wide open. CA is not so bad. But the barrel distortion can be easily corrected using photoshop.
I use the following steps "filter" - "distort" - "lens correction" - "remove distortion +3.4" to do the job. It's quite effective in getting rid of the barrel distortion.
Please refer to DPREVIEW on the review of this lens for a professional opinion.
As for me, this is a great walk-about lens to have. Hey! I don't get a cent from Tamron for saying this!
I still recommend to shoot between F6.3 to F8.0 for balanced, crisp, sharp pictures.
