You need to read the previous posts. MS Color: $930 (Canon Mount)

Called MS Color on Friday... It is out of stock already.

Seems that Singapore is totally dry of the Canon mount version.

Yeah I was just pointing out that it's on sale and there isn't only the Nikon mount available.

That's impressive. I didn't know it was that popular. Can't deny the convenience of the lens though(albeit its compromises). Perhaps thats the reason why it was $930; demand was rather high.

How does it compare with the canon 18-200? Anyone have any pictures or comparison? :)

check out the thread in the canon forum

overall
Tamron and Canon IQ is comparable, the tamron just edges the canon a tad
the canon has much better AF speed
Sigma is poor

I think AF speed on the Tamron is slower than the Canon but not slow per se. It's obviously not. Tamron has 70mm more 'reach' and does not have 'record-breaking' barrel distortion at the 18mm like the Canon.

I think when considering such superzooms, Tamron has got their marketing research right. This segment of the market obviously goes for reach and reasonable image quality.

The main point is convenience and "all-in-one"lens. Just looking at the comparisons, Tamron 18-270 fits the bill for people looking for an all-in-one and has the best value if you currently do not own an 18-200 or 18-250. If you currently own a superzoom you should just keep it.

MS Color did not reply to my request for an online quote. Is this in stock already?

thanks. just in time when i get back to spore.

Hmm... maybe I am getting impatient. I think I am dropping the idea of this lens, back to my good ol Canon lenses..

In the U.S they are selling it with an unprecedented 6 year warranty. SIX YEARS! If they do the same here, Im DEFINITELY getting it!

Probably no one on the forum got this lens

If I am not wrong, the canon mount is not available in Singapore yet. Checked with J316 last week and indicated that it will be available towards end of month.

i read a few reviews and it looks not promising..:(

Somehow all Tamron lens sold in USA has 6 years warranty. But not in other countries

from what i have read, tamron seems ok.

of cos, one cannot expect L lens quality but it makes sense to compare it against similiar focal length lens.

there is a comparison somewhere in one of a photography-on-the-net between canon18-200 and tamron 18-270. Verdict is tamron is better. anyway, at 200mm, both tamron and canon is f5.6.

what are you comparing with?

i saw the photos produced using this lens and thought they were quite alright.

Anyone knows if this lens would be available during Sitex 2008?
Have been looking for it, Canon mount, but so far it has been elusive.

dont think 3rd party lens are normally available at sitex, correct me if wrong

Just came back from HKG. Bought this lens, Canon mount from Wing Shing Photo along Sai Yeung Choi St. HKD4150, 5 yrs agent warranty. But I asked for Int'l warranty and given 1 yr.

AF speed is comparable to my 18-55 IS kit lens. Even in low light condition, I don't find it hunt!! (I tried at home as well. Focus on my spectacle box which is black and it lock focus very quickly. It does hunt when I focus on a bamboo brush painting on the wall. probably because the brownish background don't have the contrast for it to lock focus.

Am attempting to post some photos for you to just the IQ, colour. Straight from camera, no processing.
