I would prefer a 10-20mm over a 14-24mm. Come on Nikon, give us ultra wide angle!
try getting a 10-20mm on a FF sensor. You will get crazy distortions. That 14-24 is not DX if you havent noticed.

i believe the 14-24 is a non DX lens

One thing is for sure on 23 August 2007.

Parkway LifeREITS trading starts at 2pm local time.

Anyway, back on topic. 2 more days before this thread kena locked, and we all move over to the new "D3 Officially Announced !!!!!!!" thread. :bsmilie:

See ya all there at 12.01pm on 23 Aug 2007.

10-24 is for APC format. the rumored 14-24 2.8G is a FF lense and not the DX lense
IIRC till date, widest zoom is 1 12-24 full format lense and that is from sigma. (in addition its not even fixed apeture 4.5-5.6) so i think its a design limitation.

What's that?

Nikon related?

Photography related?

Or OT related

:confused::dunno::dunno:

I would prefer an upgraded version (AF-S perhaps, and I don't mind f/4) of the AF14mm f/2.8D; or at least a redesign to make it "more suitable" for digital -- understand that it's more apt on an SLR.

hmmmmm , 14-24mm f/2.8 can be nice.:)

more interested wif the brudder of 28-70..the 24-70..wonder will the G bring down the weight..

i just want it to be more affordable

will we see the new Sony 12.5 MP APS-C CMOS sensor in one of these? :D

wouldn't be surprised if they dun have a filter thread for it too.
maybe it might be FishEye like.
IMHO, i feel that 24-70 would only be useful with the; again rumoured; FF body.
If we using the APS-C sensors, i think 17-55 would suffice.

What happen to their JFET LBCAST sensor
It is something really unique from other manufacturers...
Just don;t know why Nikon don't want to improve or expand it....

As you have mentioned, a 24-70mm f/2.8 doesn't make much sense on a cropped DSLR. If they are really announcing this zoom range on the said date, the arrival of a 35mm DSLR won't be far off, even if it's not announced together.

Better to get the lens roadmap back on track; otherwise, it's (FF DSLR) arrival will only out-resolve most existing lenses save for perhaps a half dozen.

Oh, I assume that G is meant for DX. But that's really wide on a FF sensor 14mm!
There's not much non-DX G lens around right?

Pardon me but I love wide angle so I'd prefer a lens comparable to the EF-S 10-22 one.
