Don't worry.Im sure Nikon will announce something equally impressive as well
These two have always been neck to neck in terms of technology

Update on Nikon D3 - Word is circulating around the web in whispers and blog posts about a rumored launch of the Nikon D3 DSLR in the coming week.

Apparently invitations from Nikon have been going out to a 'very special launch' in the next week and a teaser ad has surfaced out of Japan (see below) which talks of:

* 51 Autofocus Points
* 9 Frames per second shooting
* 3.0 inch LCD (TFT, 920,000 pixels)

Is it a real ad for the Nikon D3 or a fake? Only time will tell.

This is going to be an exciting week :lovegrin::lovegrin:

They must be facing immense pressure from Canon - the 40D and 1DSMKIII looks damn good...very tempted to do the illogical act now...

We know soon enough.

I look at this this way, it is more the reversed. Feeling the pressure of the coming onslaught, they are forced to announce first and release whatever they have and fix any bugs later. Whereas Nikon being more conservative ensure that they have a robust product before launch, slow but steady.

I do not intend to start and N vs C war here, but I have a overseas friend having to change his brand new 1DMkIII 3 times because of the Card error problem or something like that. He is still waiting to get his 3rd time replacement camera.

Anyway this thread will close by 23 Aug whether or not any new products are announced.

but don't you guys see this as a good thing? the reason why canon launched a feature packed 40d was because d200 was giving the 30d an ass kicking.... the 40d will now spur nikon to innovate even more which in turn will spur canon to innovate evenmore which in turn will spur nikon to innovate evenmore which in turn will spur canon to innovate evenmore which in turn will spur nikon to innovate evenmore......

now i'm just waiting for 1 of them to come up with in body IS / VR

They better fast otherwise I will jump ship soon! ;p

nikon's tradition is to make tools that that the world's best images

The changing thing may or may not be true of one brand and false of the other.

I had to got to NSC to fix the softness problem for the D200 3 times even when it was brand new.

I also think there are stories of people with banding problems for the D200 right out of the box. Hence it is debatable whether one brand is fast and unsteady, or another is slow and steady. Or one brand is simply fast while the other is simply slow.

I am not in the habit to debate and will not. I will end with this simple statement not only for you but also to others contemplating. It's your call and it doesn't not affect this forum or anyone of us here. The world will still move on and go by. :cool:
