but g5 is using the older sensor which is used on gh2.. one point which stop me from getting one during the long wait of the gh3. I was thinking the ISO capability of g5 should be similar to a gh2.

Yep. For the newer sensors only GH3 has it. That's why my second cam is a EPL5. Best of both worlds

hope panny will release a new G series minus the GH3 video features and strip down the size and price....

Bro. If u want the best sensor it's either GH3 or oly EM5 / EPL5. If you like the grip and size but don't want the video, you can try EM5 with grip.

Didn't even know it's the same. So they just didn't make use of the sensor's multi aspect ratio in the G5?

It's been mentioned in the usual Rumour sites. That the hw is the gh2 but panny disabled the MAR in the G5

Bro. To clarify. In Asia and in sg there is no 30 min video tax,so no 30 min recording limit. This is a tax for EU countries. So any gh3 bought in Asia or JP or anz doesn't have this limitation.

For the video, I suspect that for USA and Canadian sets the previous gh2 was crippled with this limitation and that the gh3 has no such limitation. But whatever the case no issues with any panny lumix g here in sg not able to shoot over 30 min.

Probably these vendors are not selling different models. All the panasonics I've used dont have This limitation. Best you ask sony n canon why they don't differentiate.

So many reasons.. But in terms of tax, as far as I know Asia has no such tax. Perhaps panny using avchd also bypasses the mpeg licensing, nett is that this isn't a problem for Panasonic lumix g cams. I've used G2 Gh2 Gf3 GH3 all shoot unlimited video till the card Is full.

Or trying to do a long timelapse. The function is there, it’s just blocked!! So please vote, and if you are not European can you show your support for us?

That's a disclaimer for sets sold in the EU. Sg sets can shoot over 30min. Here's a photo I just took. Look on left side of display. Recording 31 min. With remaining 1hr + more. Up to max space on my sdcard.

different usage.. i do record events.. including concerts. most of the time i record event by event during the concert. Sometimes Im asked to record the entire event. This can be 2hrs or more...so yes. lots of usage for recording over 30min. Some wedding videographers may want to record the entire church ceremony etc.. depends

Just got my GH3. Have to say quite disappointed with the EVF. something just no quite right about it.. compare to GH2.
