[ New Gear ] Panasonic announces the GH3 (with images and FULL press release)

I was unable to find any images taken by GH3 online yet, only videos.
Seem that not much reviewers got their hand on GH3 and therefore unable to give that opinion on the image quality as compared to GH2/EM5.
Some features are not even available on the beta firmware.
This may be because the camera is still in the early stage of beta testing and was rush out for the Photokina.

I wonder will this camera will becomes available by Oct or even Nov. As I'm going Japan at end of Nov, I wonder will I be able to get it.
Of course, the image quality must improve and be able to match EM5 or even better. I'm now look at Fujifilm X-E1 for their image quality and their incredible lens. Fujifilm really make lens people wanted.

It is a good thing for the m4/3 ecosystem that Panasonic hits on the high-tech / multimedia / video crowd with the GH-3 while Olympus was goes after the retro / still crowd with the E-M5. Different strokes for different folks; the two manufacturers don't compete directly with each other at the top end and end up hurting each other. (The midrange and entry level are another story.)

First set of high iso samples is out. Looks very good!

Am in the opinion that competition promotes better innovation. I for one would like to see both still and video being excellent in a single product, just like the 5DmkIII is touted to be.

The result looks good.

I put the ISO200 image for tone mapping to see what the shadow area will do when push.
The result isn't good as it produce some blue and red banding in very dark area. My GH2 actually produce a much nicer result in these area.
But the GH3 image is a beta version and my GH2 image is output in lightroom from raw to jpg. So this is not a direct comparsion.

Hope to see images from release version very soon.

Seems like Focus Peaking might be included in the Production release model ... Thumbs up ... They are really listening to us ...

Who said that?

Below are some high ISO comparison shots of the GH3:

Not bad indeed.

I would be comfortable using it up to 3200.

Apologies! Will use the button in future!

I'm enthusiastic about this body but I'm still waiting on great zoom lenses to replace my Four-Thirds lenses.
