New AF-S Primes and Zooms Rumours - Will it come true?

Right now D40 users who want a prime lens cant use the current nikkors (the bodies only autofocus with AFS lenses). They have to buy the sigma. Launching a SWM G type version would solve this. And i'm sure lots of people wouldnt mind upgrading for this especially if they updated the optical formula ;)

its a conspiracy between the nikkor lens and nikon body designer.

It'll be beyond awesome to have these primelens in afs!
but so far, still no concrete info and i reckon it'll be pretty costly too. S:

I remember seeing a canon 50mm f/0.95 or something. Crazy dream lens.. Bokeh everywhere.

Don't say so early, or be too happy.:nono: The suspected lenses haven't come yet. But it reminds me of Nikon D3, D300 and 14-24 f2.8 getting Best Camera and lens awards by TIPA & EISA.

Don't say so much ah.. later your lens got tiny bit focus error your whole picture ruined ;p

It's actually not working to nikon's advantage. Many beginners are attracted to other camps because they get to all lenses with entry-level body sometime in the future. You can't do that with nikon.

Haha absolutely. There are already plenty of people who get off-focus shots when using F1.4 or F1.8lenses. I wonder how to use f1.0 lens well if it does come out.

not really actually, d40/60 have attracted loads of people who are deciding dSLR/prosumer in the general consumer marketing because of its pricing. many starters who know nuts about dSLR let alone the Nikon screw-drive AF system have jumped in for the d40/60 for its price that is so close or even lower than some prosumer.

lol thats kinda true :bsmilie:

nevertheless, AF-S primes are prolly gonna be too expensive for D40/60 users

Price will definitely be astronomical.Leica's Noctilux 50mm f1.0 costs something like $10k if you havent realised:confused:

That's why Nikon didn't make them. You think Nikon doesn't know how to make them?

yeah... it's going to be real tough... probably have to mount it on a tripod and... time to make use of LiveView! :)

I'm praying for

Nikkor AFS VR II 24-120 f/2.8-4

and

Nikkor AFS VR II 70-300 f/2.8

But I don't think my prayers would be answered :bsmilie:

six more days to photokina and to the truth...

but maybe tmr there might be a Nikon news release? since Canon already release theirs?

Hmm... interesting quote

"He stated that there will be prime lens announcements on Monday, prior to Photokina. He was also unwilling or unable to answer what type of Primes would be announced."

For source click this LINK

So will we hear good news on this coming Monday?

Anyway the same source also said there will not be any new release of 70-200mm VR lens and there will not be any new Pro camera body for this year.

This means no 70-200mm VRII and no D3x or equivalent.

It seems only prime lenses will be released...

Hmm... we shall see if this will be true real soon...

the reps only says this..." NO No NO No..."

This is getting exciting!

Someone just posted about a German/EU website showing a teaser Nikon lens to be launched during Photokina... and it has only the markings "50mm" and "F1.4"!

But will it be an AF-S?!? (or just another photoshopped "dud" or for that matter some other branded 50mm faking as a Nikkor :bsmilie: )

Guy who posted it did a comparison with his AF 50mm F1.4 Nikkor and feels it's a different design... but hey Photoshop can do wonders these days... just take a look at this cheeky Nikon Ad HERE

Here is the Nikon Rumor post reporting the "discovery"

And here is the actual German website of the teaser (It takes a while to load before you can see the teaser ad)

I couldn't do a Google translation of the German website... so anyone out there who can read German help give us an idea what it's saying? tks

2 more days to Photokina and the truth will be out... stay tuned... :)
